Leafs Would Be Stupid Not to Trade JVR

Description
After the haul the NY Rangers received for Rick Nash, it would be so foolish not to trade him, as long as he went to the Western Conference.

To recap, the Rangers received a 1st and 7th round draft pick, a pretty decent prospect, Ryan Spooner (a top-6) and Matt Belesky (a top-9 and salary dump).

There are a number of West teams that I am sure would pony up, and it would allow us to collect some premium return. Thoughts?

You dont have a thought for us? Anyway, one deal could be JvR to Nashville if they dont find another top 6 Forward. He could go to Carolina to play w/his bro, Trevor. There are otherz but just a few here

If Lou can get anywhere close to what NYR got for Nash from BOS, he should trade JVR.
(Maybe C.Sissons + 1RD pick + @)
Also, now they have Plekanec (Which I see he is upgrade on DEF over Bozak) if he can get something for Bozak(I see similar return as Leafs paid to get Plekanc) and use that to lure RD.

Western teams are still quite so maybe they are willing to overpay.

The purpose is try to win, trading jvr for far distance futures doesn't help. Don't see Bruins,Tampa or any contender in the western conference trading their ufas. Guess it's only Leaf fans who are just happy to make the playoffs.

I believe Connor Timmins is out with what I think is a season-ending concussion, isn't he? Who knows what the time period would be to him to get back. Generally, I am not a believer in trading for an injured player. Good deal though, but I think the Leafs can get more based on the Rangers received for Nash.

I like the idea of trading them as a duo, and had a thought and posted a GM thread last week about a potential deal with Vegas. However, it seems that Vegas may be pre-occupied with trying to land the elusive white whale (Erik Karlsson).

I wanted this as more a discussion of possibilities, so I opened it up as more a chat, then make my own proposals, which may have taken away from my intention. I am not sure the Leafs at this point would want to trade for such a potentially-impactful forward to a team in the East.

What the Rangers received was a great deal more than JUST futures. That is my point.

I think you are dreaming if you honestly believe JVR is going to get a return anywhere close to what Nash got NYR...

Spooner isn't that special and Belesksky was a cap dump. So really the Rangers did trade for futures, the first and Lindgren.
