Deadline deals (Barrie on the move)

Description
Colorado has set itself up for a bright future with the addition of young talent like Girard and Kamenev in the Duchene deal. They also have a plethora of up and coming prospects that have the potential to bolster their D-core in the near future (Makar & Timmins). That makes getting rid of Barrie a little easier as it gives way to the younger prospects that have their sights set on cracking the lineup in the 2018-2019 season. Picking up pieces like Kyrou and Fabbri would only add to what is becoming one of the fastest and youngest franchises in the NHL. GM Joe Sakic has done a good job of brining in prospects and picks that will benefit Colorado for years to come. Adding Josh Leivo for an ageing Comeau and a young Chris Bigras, that hasn’t necessarily impressed us at the NHL level, brings more depth to a progressing Colorado roster. It’s obvious Colorado won’t be a major buyer at this deadline, but if they can add key younger players like the ones shown, they’ll be in the running for years to come.

Tough to put any sort of value on Leivo when he hasn’t been able to showcase his skills at the NHL level. It’s also notable to mention that he was upset with his playing time in Toronto and obviously him and the organization aren’t seeing eye to eye. Comeau is an underrated 3rd liner that is a force on the PK and would help Toronto a lot with his veteran status.
