I kind of wish I was a Rangers fan right now. So much hope for the future.

Yeah, but nothing beats playoff hockey, man.

I feel that. I'm really sad my Blues likely won't make it this year, but our future is really bright as well.

Think you are really on to something here. Really like the way you’ve put the forward lines together. A top 6 of Kreider-Zibanejad-Chytil Kovalchuk-Namestikov-Buchnevich would be very high quality!

Some of those signings are innacurate. As much as I love Skjei, he’ll most likely get less than that. Kovy is definitely not worth 5 mil anymore either. Nash will 100% not make 4 mil either. More realistically is somewhere around 3. That’s where I value him at least.

Kovalchuk will be a Ranger next year. He currently plays on the same team as Shestyorkin, and the Rangers will outbid everyone to get a familiar face for Shesty to be comfortable out of his element when he arrives for 2019-2020 season. However, I dont see Nash coming back, Brenden Smith will probably be buried for good, and Staal is a possible buyout candidate. I would like to see Zuc play the same line with Kovalchuk

I think you're right about Skjei, probably more in the 4m a year range depending on years. Nash WILL 100% make 4 mil though and Kovalchuk is going to be around 4-5m. Nash at 4 mil is just about half price of his existing contract. Remember he is a UFA and can take the highest offer, and this is the year u want to be a UFA as the cap is expected to go up as much as 7mil. All those teams that were interested in him at the deadline can now get him with a half off tag and not have to give up anything in return...its happening.

Yeah but if he’s coming back to the Rangers, they just won’t pay him that. Nor will the Rangers give Kovy that either unless they’re really trying to compete which I think is the wrong move. Nash would definitely take a hometown discount. He loves NY and wants to stay here. Cashing on the highest contract probably doesn’t matter to him. Similar to Shattenkirk and his situation. He wants to play for NY and if they give him 4 mil a year, then that’s basically guaranteeing a Zuc trade in order to sign Buchnevich to a long contract.

Also, Rykov plays with Shesty and Buch has also played with him. Don’t need to worry about a familiar face in the locker room. Plus that’s not until 2020 at the latest.

Yes Rykov plays with Shesty but he's no lock to ever play for the big club, Kovalchuk is if signed. You're right though Buch has played with Shesty as well, the key is getting his comfort level up immediately. The best thing for the NYRs is next season at the deadline, Hank removes his NMC/NTC and agrees to go to a contender. Then Shesty comes over 19-20 and (not saying he starts right away) gets some game experience and adapts to NHL play and ice surface. Get him working with Benoit Allaire and go from there. Maybe Georgiev or Halverson step up and become the NYR next frachise netminder, maybe even a darkhorse, but all I know is this team is headed in the right direction now. Draft well and spend well is all we can ask for as fans.

Absolutely, if he were willing to waive his clause. There is a rocky road ahead. Last night he was 3rd star in a game he gave up 5 goals in to a team thats almost as pathetic as us right now. Its definitely not the most popular opinion but I care more about the front of the jersey. He turns 36 tomorrow, how many more 50+ shot games can he survive?
