How I would play the team the rest of the season

Created by: ColoradoCaps

Description
1st line- Wilson plays with Ovechkin and Backstrom because he has shown he can score if given enough ice time and he back checks to get Backstrom and Ovechkin the puck back.

2nd Line- Burakovsky is shooting more and could be from his hand being fully healthy now but his speed and Kuznetsov's awareness should generate offense as they head into the last quarter of the season.

3rd line- Connolly and Eller have good chemistry together and adding Vrana should allow Vrana to "relax" and try and become the "sniper" of that line while going against lower lines of some of the top teams.

4th Line- Stephenson provides speed and good goal scoring ability and has been working on PK. Beagle and DSP would grind out the rest of the games and against teams' top lines.

1st D - Djoos is getting better with experience and keeping him with Carlson on his natural side should benefit the Caps going into the playoffs

2nd D - Don't fix what ain't broke.

3rd- Hard decision, Orpik blocks a lot of shots but is getting slower with age. Bowey can provide the offense from that pair and then the other spot goes to the guy who is better defender and puck mover. Orpik sits unless the new guys don't block shots like he does.

Holtby sits until he can get a few wins in a row. And the defense in front starts to play better. It might be best to rebuild his confidence slow with starts against bad teams instead of throwing him against playoff teams and hanging him out to dry.

Really wish they would have added a better 2nd line scorer for the push for the playoffs. I think they're missing Williams and Mojo's production a bit but maybe Burakovsky and Vrana will elevate their games if given a the opportunity in the playoffs. (Maybe they'll be Boninos, Sissons', Wards,Tyler Johnsons, or Justin Williams?)

I like it. I’m curious to see what Jerabek can bring though, and he has played much as a RD as well. Haven’t liked what I’ve seen from Kempny so far. But on the other hand, the team have stunk since acquiring him.
How is Holtby going to string a few wins together if he’s sitting on the bench?

Thanks. I'm hoping with each day and practice that the new czech d-men will be get better enough to earn more playing time over the aging Brooks Orpik.

I probably should have said it as he would be the backup for now and if he can start winning against the easier opponents (NYR, BUF, OTT) then he can earn the start job back.
