Neither of the trades really make much sense to me, but I do like the signings. I think that Johnson should be playing in the NHL instead of Korshkov or Grundstrom... I think the Greening and Smith deals are good for the Marlies but not so great for the cap hit too.

As long as the players have a cap hit under 1.25m, the players can be demoted to the AHL and not affect the NHL cap. Though you can't have too many of these players as it your total offseason signings go over 10% of the cap.
Agree with you Johnson probably has the best chance of NHL spot in October. Grundstrom and Korshkov might be North American rink adjustment time.

Okay. That makes sense! I should have looked into it more! I think it might be nice to see Grundstrom get some ice time, but not in a permanent roster spot, so I agree.
