Comment about reports that Lou is stepping down as GM. What do you think?

Description
If reports are right.. Dubas would take the position of GM in Toronto and Lou would be moved to some kind of an advisery role for him. In his first year or years as a GM all the moves he would want to happen would go through Lou as he would say if it is good or nah and will advise him on everything. There would be a lot to learn but he would do his job perfectly. I see Dubas being one of the best GM's in the league for maaaaany years to come. He has a ton of potential and knows every single player in the organization not just from the game perspective but also the human perspective because he is now GM of Marlies and would be GM of Leafs. Hunter would stay in position of Assist. GM and would be in charge of Marlies and scouting/drafting. Also I have a dream of becoming part of this organization. I'm just 18 year old young man from Slovakia with great passion in hockey and Leafs so someday.. maybe this would become a reality, and realistically, it will not. It is now reality that if media puts out rumour of some kind of signing or trade including Leafs it is not true at all. No one knows what is coming next besides Lou, Dubas, Hunter, Babs and probably Shanny. This would continue and it is the best thing really. I love the direction this team is going in and I'm glad that Shanaplan works greatly. Man.. Shannahan and his team should be named the greatest heroes of Toronto ever!

As a leaf fan i think that lou has done a great job but this was always the plan and seeing how well he has run the Marlies he is ready for the next step in his development.

There is a big difference between being an assistant GM and the GM. Not saying Dubas can't do the job. Heard Lou speaking last week. He did sorta poo, poo the thought that he was all so important. He told how the Leaf organization was set up so everyone has a voice in decisions.
I don't think anyone but Lou could have done the Phanuef deal with Ottawa. It was a long time relationship with Bryan Murray the helped seal the team. Or how he "hid" in the stands watching then Ducks goalie Andersen practice that convinced him that Andersen would be a # 1 goalie.
Sammy: When you come to Toronto, and get a Leaf job, maybe you and some of your CapFriendly Leaf buddies can watch a game from private Leafs box at the ACC. rock on. Thanking you in advance.

They've done a very good job with the rebuild and sticking to the plan. I wish Ottawa could do something similar but our issues start from the top.

Anyways, I'd hold off a little on calling them heroes of Toronto. They've done a great job and put together a hell of a team but they still haven't won a playoff series. The Caps are a prime example of a consistently solid hockey team that can't get it done in the playoffs.

But even as a sens fan/leafs hater, I can definitely respect what they've done over there. I just hope they never win a cup awesome face

Going from bad to mediocre is "pretty easy". Going from mediocre to good is "tough". Going from good to "true contender or Champs is very difficult". Starting in 2019/20 the Leafs might be a top 8 team for five years, but you're right, no guarantees of a Cup Final.
