JT + AP +++

Created by: bobermay
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 5, 2018
Published: Mar. 5, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just fun speculation.

1) Sign UFA JT
2) Matthews takes a little discount, becomes Captain
3) Trade for Pietrangelo. Give up Liljegren or other 1st if necessary
4) Sign Marner/Nylander on shorter bridge type contracts
5) Marleau's contract will come off the books following this season, so we'd have room to re-up Dermott/Kapanen/Johnsson/Peitrangelo)

far too much money and term for gardiner. look at pietrangelo, he has only one year left on his contract. certainly don't trade all that away just to acquire him. you certainly don't understand a bridge deal is. bridges are contracts that keeps players on rfa status even when their contracts are over. your so called bridges have the players ufas when their deals end.

it is amazing (pathetic) that so many don't learn the value of contracts, especially when considering "term". plus the trading of LTIRs which in 99% meaningless to all teams

Nitpicky, huh?

90% of Leafs fans want to sign Marner/Nylander at 6.5-7+mil contracts... Getting into the semantics, I said 'Bridge Type' inferring a lower caphit on less term. A 5-6 year deal is more of a 'bridge' than a 7-8 year deal... I think thats the way to go, and thats the only point I was making.... Bridge may not have been the best word, sure... but the premise doesn't change...

No one wants Matt Martin and his horrendous contract. Your not getting Pietrangelo. Stop TORONTO ISNT GETTING JT. It is not how it works.

Two things not enough for AP and Wings are rebuilding and if we take bad contracts we want something to do that.
