the oilers seem to be the losers in two of those trades. a top pick and more for oel's only year of his contract. zuccharello only a year left also. little cap space in 2019/20 makes their resigning improbable and why would you want to anyway.

OEL would be a huge add an we can re sign him 6 x 7 an zucc could be signed 3x 4.75 but maybe keeping the first would be better off

You better be able to get OEL to sign. He has you over a barrel after this trade. 6 years, 8.5 mil is probably the starting point.

It's do able if we can move one of sekera or Russell which shouldn't be to hard if we add picks I do think the oilers target him

They're all fine trades as long as the players coming to Edmonton have already agreed to extensions. Failing that, I wouldn't touch them. Strome for a high second seems fair, since it's as much about the contract as it is about the player.

Long time no see Dylan.

I really dislike the OEL trade. Advanced stats (excluding this year) indicate that Klef is underrated based solely on eye-test/points. So yes you're upgrading some, but at what cost? The real zinger is giving a top-3 pick in a really good draft. If this was a 2019 1st round pick, it would make more sense. But as is, Arizona hurries to agree before you change your mind.

NYR deal makes sense if you can secure an extension.

MTL deal makes enough sense as well.

With what you are receiving, you would be better off keeping those players and drafting an elite player.

I just don't see us trading RNH so he would be our third line centre yeah it's pricey but I'd rather have three really good centres unless we move RNH to the top lw with Connor

Yeah dog it's been a while ! And klef could be gold to keep he's having a bad season but everyone not named mcdavid and drai and nuge is. Haha and yeah I figured Montreal could use strome more then we can

My big thing with these deals is that once you add it all up again, the Oilers are marginally better than they are now, but are missing either Dahlin, Zadina or Svechnikov from the lineup, any of which would be huge for the franchise. I'm a huge fan of Zucc and I think he'd do great playing next to Draisaitl, and as previously stated, an extension is necessary here.

On paper, the upgrades are pretty solid all around. But if you have a Zadina or Svechnikov in the lineup, there's no need to go for Zucc right now. At that point, maybe he becomes a UFA target (if the Oilers could somehow afford it). OEL has been pretty trash this year, so maybe the Oilers would rather have the extra term and cost-effectiveness of Klefbom than him at the moment.
