The way I see this team being in a few years/ keeping the Marlies stacked

Created by: Jakem139
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 6, 2018
Published: Mar. 6, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
*****The the future Marlie players yes I understand not ever players make the same amount of money but I was just lazy and didn’t want to sign them all to different money contracts”*****

Yes it’s possible that Liljegren could be a top pairing D-man but I also don’t know how well him and Rielly how will mess together. I see him and dermott playing well together.

I see this team being two of things.
1) really,really young
2) really,really skilled

Don’t see either Marner or Nylander signing for under 7 and Mathews is most likely going to be closer to 12 million a year and above

Not sure but I don’t see person being like a highly skilled offensive player but more of a shutdown guy. Obviously I wouldn’t pay him 8 million then but very good right shot D- men make a ton of money

I usually think that too but I hope they all realize that if then make say a million dollars less they will all still be playing together and the leafs will be able to afford to bring in different guys to make this even better.

I think you $$$$$ dollar figures are somewhat low. And getting rid of Marleau is difficult with his NMC, and all the wishing doesn't make his cap go away.

And why folks think there is so magic in this # 1 Dman? Do you mean like Karlsson whose has won 3 playoff rounds in 7 years? Or Hedman who has missed the playoffs three of the past seven years? Pens win the Cup last year without one. Just because you have this alleged # 1 Dman, does not lead to guaranteed success. But it seems to the catch phrase answer to Leaf haters.

Most of the season Morgan Rielly has played like a number 1 defender... extremely hard quality of competition, good traditional and advanced stats.. Leafs don't need to sell the farm or go all in on a UFA defender whose contract will be a burden in a few years.

Also doubt Matthews gets paid 12 million, seems like a team first guy and his injuries will have prevented him from being in the scoring title race this year which helps lower his salary too

They have near identical number to Nik Ehlers who signed for $6m. Lou has been notorious for playing "Hardball" with free agents. With regards to Matthews you MAY be right, although his injury woes may drop him a million or so
