Description
Yes we could sign John Carlson to millions of dollars and possibly slowly put are self in cap hell. Or we can build through the draft and start having this younger guys come up, mole them into are system and play to there fullest strengths

Reason for signings:

The AHL guys
Not to say these guys are horrible and will never see the light of the NHL ever again, but they will probably never make the team even if injury.
These guys are Ben smith, Kyle Baun, Justin scores two goals two games Holl and Collin greening. These guys will help out the farm system and help the players confidence down there.

Miro aaltonen.
Honestly I feel like he should have made a team out of camp, But I do like how he got to play a year down on the Marlies. If he wasn’t injured I would have probably liked to see him get called up for a few games. He will probably be the best “fourth line Center” we ever had and probably one of the top in the league. I don’t really think he’s a fourth line guy and could possibly make his way up into a 3rd like role in his career. Two years at a million bucks could be a steal very soon.

Andres Johnsson. Could possibly be a replacement to JVR but could also be better. Not to say he is a better play then JVR but Johnsson isn’t really just a “tip in and my night is done” type of guy. If you don’t really watch the Marlies play I highly recommend watching, this kids a beast.
Same two year million bucks could be big steal half way through his contract.

Freddy the goat. Honestly yes I like the guy but he’s a bust. I don’t really see him being anymore the a fourth like guy and it’s sad because of we’re he was drafted. I see him being ether a AHL next seasons or one of are spare forward. Cheap term and cheap price.

William Andrew Michael Junior Nylander Altelius: (yes that’s his full name)
Boy can you remember when last season we were trading him for dougie Hamilton. Anyways 7 years 6.5 million per is pretty good. I say his best comparison would be a david pastrnak and Nikolaj Ehlers. Both make around the same in money and produce around the same in points. Also out of all these players, I’m pretty sure Nylander is the only guy who could possibly develop into a centre. Also this is probably around what Marner will get too so not overly expensive contracts.

Yegor Korshkov.
I don’t watch any KHL so maybe someone in the comments could explain more about him. All I know is this kids pretty freaking good. Sign him to ELC.

igor ozhiganov
Apparently he’s singing with the leafs off season. I also heard that his team in Russia cut his ice time, don’t honestly know anything about him besides- he a right shot D-man who yea we could use a few of.

I like everything you’ve done except retaining salary on Matt Martin, that’s going to hurt us in 2019/20. I’m pretty confident you could package him with a late round pick and keep Pickard. Martins one of the toughest guys in the nhl and could really help a small/young team. (And remember the Ryan Reaves?)

Makes a lot of sense. I would like to keep Nylander on Matthews wing instead of putting him at center and maybe try to sing a 4th line center(Riely Nash, maybe even Boak) to cheap deals. Other then that, perfect.

This looks pretty good. Remember to add 2017/18 bonus of 4m which takes available cap down to about 8m. I don't understand why folks are so enamoured with Pickard, he cleared waivers last year. Martin is fairly easy trade after July 1st, when he owed just 2.5m over two years in actual dollars, thought he cap stays at 2.5m per year. If he stays or is traded, doesn't make that much difference.
Agree with Beanie, I would like to keep Nylander at the wing.....but finding a centre is difficult. The only player I like as UFA is Stastny who could do the job, so as you suggest Nylander might be centre.
