You are expecting too much from Dvorak and and Domi. I also think that Grubauer will want more money. Many consider him good enough to be a starter.

Dillon and Johansen battle in camp. Trading Orpik for a worse defenseman with a slightly lower cap hit but a longer term is a faustian bargain.

I think I'd rather trade him for Alzner or Brouwer. Alzner is at least as good as Orpik. Brouwer isn't, but it's easier to coast at forward, and he was a fan favorite in DC several years ago, when he was good. Plus, Calgary just massively overpaid for Hamonic, who is like a younger, weaker Orpik, so who knows what they'd throw in to add some real toughness on the back end, let alone to dump the remaining two years of Brouwer a 4.5M?

Having 23 guys is a luxury. Walker cleared waivers once this year. He can clear them again. Johansen is exempt. There's 1.5M of space. Enjoy!
