I really don't think this is too far off. Clears $7M off MTL's books, allows Lindgren to assume the starting role on minimum salary and gives MTL ample pieces to build around.

But MTL needs to then take back all of Andrew Ladd (who has a no-trade so I don't know if it even gets to this point, but still. Just an idea.)

I don't believe MB thinks that is enough. He'd probably want Nelson's rights as well as those prospects and also first and a second-rounder. Especially if MTL is retaining a part of his salary.

Yeah these deals are right when not looking at Price’s fame or International Acheivements. Really, though, IMO that’s all Price has. He’s overrated and not the best G in the world.

Just out of curiosity, who do you think is the best goalie in the world?

Josh: At some point Montreal has to come to grips with the fact that Price on his upcoming contract is at best questionable. An over 30 goalie with 8 years of term? Montreal is not only going to have to eat salary, they can't expect assets in return! They may have to actually add assets to taking back salary to move him. I know not what you want to hear, but maybe a dose of reality!

Honestly, though, Quick could b in that argument or Matt Murray (unfortunately) or Crawford.

I think Quick is a little inconsistent. Plus he gets help from Kings' defense quite a lot, considering there are some good names in there.

Murray... Meh, it's easier to be a goalie in a team that have seemed to have the best roster in the world. At least there are two cups to prove that as a fact, as sad that is to admit.

Crawford? He's good, but not the best. Too inconsistent as well. For example, at some points even Darling was better than him.

Personally, I'd say Price is one of the best. Bobrovski and Vasilevski are at the top as well.

I'm not sure what you're implying. Do you think I'm a Habs fan...? Because I'm not.

Then WHY would you suggest giving up anything for Price?

Totally agree. Its tough in this league to put the Best in the World tag on a player

Because he is still one of the top goaltenders in the world? That contract is prohibitive but with salary retention (or with MTL taking back a bad contract) it is tolerable.
