I don’t know if philly would take that for Simmonds. Don’t know who Vala is but if he’s pretty good I could see the Flyers considering. Probably have to add a little more though.

Vala is a 19-year old d-prospect from Czech Republic. I don't really nothing else from him. He's never been drafted anywhere, so I guess he is a wild card of some sort.

Philly definitely doesn't accept unless at least one 1st in in the mix, possibly more. It'd be stupid to give up Simmonds for a 3rd liner + a couple average players.

I don't think Simmonds' value is Domi + 1st + something else. That's an overpayment. You could get Pacioretty with that kind of sum, and as far as I'm concerned, Pacioretty is more valuable than Simmonds is.

Not really... They're both good for about 30 goals and 60 points a year, both good leaders, both good PKers, and both on really solid contracts. Only difference is how they get their goals; Simmer gets them from up close, while Patches has a better shot.

Pacioretty has still made produced more than him in the past, in a worse team no less. For example, Pacioretty has had 4 over 60-point seasons in the past, Simmonds only two 60-point seasons. Pacioretty has been a captain of his team quite a long spun of time, and he has also been probably the best forward of his team for some time now (although that might be because Habs has arguably had quite a pathetic roster for some time now, the team has clinged so much to their goaltending it's below miserable and especially that Price's new contract proves this as a fact), but it still doesn't make Pacioretty a bad player. Simmonds hasn't ever been in that kind of state. I think what makes Pacioretty a better player is that he can produce more in a much worse team - and also in an environment where everybody expects big things from him, like Montreal is.

Why Simmonds has been better this season, is because of Habs' bad season. He isn't better player in my books anyway.

The Flyers haven not been a "much worse" team than Montreal. Also, Pacioretty gets more TOI than Simmonds yet produces nearly the same and doesn't bring the grittiness that Simmonds does.

Still don't understand the obsession with Hjalmarsson. Dude is declining fast, and he can't stay healthy in Arizona....

Not exactly "obsession". I just picture he is an able D and could be a decent return for Hanzal and a prospect.

And what comes to Hanzal, both of those things you said about Hjalmarsson apply for Hanzal as well. He has declined in Dallas, and sure hasn't been "staying healthy" as you put it.

I believe that swapping Hanzal with Hjalmarsson won't be enough, so a prospect or draft pick should be added.

But why would Arizona take that swap? Why should we take that swap? They are both declining and both have issues staying healthy. The Arizona portion of this trade makes no sense. If you want Simmonds, you don't need the RFA rights to Domi to get him. It's all just redundant. Hjalmarsson doesn't make this team any better. We already have issues with a defenseman staying healthy (Methot). There's no need to add Methot 2.0 to our roster.
