Drouin is definitely not worth a top 6 pick. Sure he had a decent year in TB last year but he also played won Stamkos. He hasn’t done anything this year.

Youre saying such a thing because you haven't seen him play... He is excellent on the pp and has increase his pourcentage of wins on faceoffs... We are not trading him for this pick

Ya you’re right...37 points and -26 in 66 games, he is really good and well worth a top 6 pick...

Considering the upside of Drouin, I think the value is there, but it would be pointless for MTL to do that.

The Habs need to win ASAP so while (considering the pick is ranged from 3-5) Zadina or Tkachuk MAY BE better than Drouin some day, why would you trade your home town guy who is 22 yo for a 17 yo especialy after throwing away Sergachev for him.

I'm very positive that Drouin is going to be better in the near future, he is WORKING hard and he was put at #1C when he's not really used to that position while playing with average wingers (No chemistry with Patch or Galch).

Droin would be a repeat of thinking Ryan was gonna do anything besides nothing at all.
Sens need determined defensive grit much more than spozed 2 be flashy scoring.
Another young goalie, Oskar Dansk, would be excellent.

Agree with Drouin comments, he isn't worth it. And certainly Karlsson isn't worth all that either. Vegas gave up 1st, 2nd 3rd for Tatar (right or wrong), and you want a 1st , 2ndand last year's first in Glass for one of Karlsson and a big cap dump in Ryan. Ottawa fans are going to severely disappointed when Karlsson does get traded and the returns for him aren't nearly that high. You've been reading two many media reports which the Senators have put out trying to pump up the price.

I would make the Drouin trade reluctantly if it were made before the lottery draw and with no protection on it.

I suspect many on these boards are too young to remember Guy Lafleur, who was drafted in the era when you had to be 20 to be drafted. His first three season in the NHL were 64, 55, 56 points. There were a lot of doubters in Montreal. Starting at 24, he went on a tear: 119, 125, 136,132, 129, 125. It was a different era, for sure, but the principle of maturing into the game hasn't change. It goes to show that sometimes a little patience goes a long way. I think Drouin will figure it out.

Yeah no way is Drouin getting you a top 6 pick in a deep draft such as this, Even if DET gets the #5 overall pick i wouldn't trade it for Drouin. Since we already have our own Drouin in Dylan Larkin similar numbers.

No, no, they are right....
It is unheard of to see a 22 year old join a new team and play a position he hasn't played before at the NHL level... Complete bust!!! He definitively isn't worth a super proven guaranteed future Star NHL prospect, that's for sure!

Back to being serious...

Agreed. And because I am pretty set on a rebuild. I may even make the trade anyway to gain an asset that's 4 years younger, although, 22 is still very young and not even entering prime years yet.

Geez, you scared the heck out of me there. Sadly, there are people who do think he's a bust. They think the same of Galchenyuk. Neither is true. If there's a bust in Montreal, it's the French media/fans that won't allow the team to hire the best available coach and GM, so it's a pretty limited gene pool the Habs get to draw from.

To me, that's my greatest disappointment in Julien. He had a 5-year deal and a chance to completely reinvent himself as a coach and instead has just reverted to the norm -- though, in fairness, losing 4 of your best 6 players to long-term disability might cause you to try to play safe, sleepy hockey.

No one? Just saying as a Detroit fan i wouldn't give up a top 5 pick in a deep draft for Drouin, Having watched him in Tampa he hasn't impressed me enough to give up a top 5 pick in a deep draft.

Detroit doesn't need a Drouin. That's all you guys ever seem to draft is great skating wingers. You've got Rasmussen, Svechnikov and Bertuzzi (who fortunately didn't inherit his father's feet) coming up. I don't worry about the Wings. The ghost of Konstantinov still lifts the Wings.
