Description

The trade with Detroit is interesting. Detroit picks up Dubinsky to give themselves a place holder player as they inevitably trade Nyquist. Dubi can also play wing which would benefit Detroit. They trade away Ericsson which is a bad contract to give some younger players a chance to get some NHL experience.

Ottawa gets a ton of defense. Ryan Murray and Gabriel Carlsson give Ottawa some young defensemen to add to their team now. They also pick up a 1st round pick at the 2018 draft. Ottawa takes the lady 2 years of Ericsson’s contract and receive a 3rd round pick in return.

For Columbus they get Hoffman. Hoffman is the type of player the Jackets need. He is a consistent goal scorer.

It is nice to have a D Corp that is stocked, fully ready to play and competing for playing time, which doesn’t even include Carlsson yet.
