If CHI Really Wants to Move Seabrook

Created by: DirtyDangles
Team: 2018-19 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 22, 2018
Published: Mar. 22, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Chicago gets an NHL D man back on a much sorter term than Seabrook and also save Cap Space over those remaining years, even with retention. They also now would have 3 1st round picks that they could use to move back up.

The Chicago trade is interesting and could be a decent frame work of a Seabrook deal.

Calgary deal is ok value wise but not sure if they'd part with a 4th rounder for a backup tender vs. signing a vet UFA in the off season

DET would need more for AA

I would assume OTT wants a lot more for Hoffman

Hoffman only has 2 years left on his deal, Simmonds has 1. They both put the puck in the net and OTT gets one of our top prospects. I think that is fair.

That's a lot to retain for that term. That's an interesting deal for sure.

why would Chicago want to give up at this point a top 10 pick plus retain almost 2,500,000 in salary to pickup 2 bottom of the draft picks plus a 5/6 dman.
They have too man 5/6 guys, they need a top 4 pairing guy

with what Gudas makes and retaining that much Chicago saves $1,100,000 and takes a downgrade even over Seabrook.

I think Chicago waits and sees where they sit at the draft. A top 3 pick I think they decline this offer and try and snag Zadina or Tkachuk and hold onto seabrook. If they are a top 10 I think this move makes sense

ya sure you save $1.1 mil for 2 years and then you save a bunch more. Gudas can be a top 4 guy if he isn't paired with the likes of Brandon Manning. Also, not sure how 2 mid 1st round picks are "the bottom of the draft"

It may be a fair amount to retain but you also have to remember that the guy is going to be 90 by the time his contract is up.

hahaha.

I agree.
If Chicago believes the window will still be open in 3 years time, capturing as much cap space as possible will be a huge + as they're always up against it.
If Chigago believes it's time to re-tool...it makes sense as it opens up a bit of cap space now and adds two mid round picks instead of 1 higher one.
If Chicago is thinking more complete rebuild...getting the guy they value most in the draft will be the top priority.

Switch Morin with Strome or Neuvirth and take J.Ericsson and you got yourself a deal. Detroit has a log jam on defense (NHL and AHL) and have very promising defensemen prospects.

Love all the trades, except the Chi pick must b only #1 overall protected (Do NOT make this deal if the pick’s Dahlin).

How about I remove Morin and give you Neuvy and Strome instead. You can keep Eriksson.

I'm not taking on 4 years of Eriksson.

Jonathon Ericsson who has two years left not Loui Eriksson who doesn't even play for Detroit.

Whoops, I was looking at DET page but forgot to remove 2017/18 and then I added a year for emphasis. If we only have to deal with that then that would work. I will edit.

I was considering Chicago's pick at around 6th.

OK. lol I was too lazy to do the math. Yeah if im Chicago, Im making that move. Big time. I think Philly is overpaying for that 1st Chi. Remember, its value would diminish if Seabrook was attached to it.

I just want Wahlstrom. We don't need quantity of prospects anymore, just quality. Seabrook would be a solid mentor for all the kids we have.

Hmm ok fair enough. Oh and btw, I think there is a realistic trade to be made for Lehtera and the Habs but it has involve the understanding that just because we are weak at center doesn't mean we'll pay anything good for lehtera. I was thinking something along the lines of Schlemko for Lehtera. Philly gets cap space and another contract they can peddle off somewhere for a pick. Hasb get a center that could hopefully rebound his career.

Chances are we just wait out Lehtera's deal or move him for a pick only. As you can see, the Flyers don't really need the cap space.

But the deal doesn't hurt them either. It only saves them actual dollars without compromising anything and gives two teams something that helps. Like I said Schlemko is worth probably a 5-6th by himself at the TDL next year so the deal would essentially be 5M for 1.8M and a 5-6th..... low risk win/win scenario. Whats not to like?
