Leafs with Tanev trade at draft

Created by: Liamthepro
Team: 2018-19 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 19, 2018
Published: Mar. 25, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Tanev might appreciate the chance to contend for the foreseeable future, especially after some rough seasons out west. Canucks gets 1st and 7th this draft and next year a 4th, and NHL ready D in Rosen.
I don't think that Martin's salary matters much to Vancouver, and Tanev's contract is much bigger in this trade. Van can easily trade MM for a 6th if they retain the 1.25M (50%) that the Leafs can't afford...

A high price to pay for two years of Tanev? What if he stays finds a way to stay healthy in a new environment? A classic risk for reward proposition, the kind that a contending team has to consider, when entering the draft looking to win with this core.

My first concern is his durability. Though one of the best shutdown dman out there he can't seem to stay healthy. Also, something tells me that the price will end up being what Calgary gave for Hamonic due to supply and demand and they have stated hes not available.

The Canucks want way to much for Tanev. I'd be happier if the Leafs just wait for guys like Liljegren to develop.

Let me just say for the record that Tanev is unlucky. And the Canucks medical staff is garbage. He can be heard on camera saying "my kneecap is dislocated", while 5 minutes later he returned to the game (guess what, he's injured as a result lol)
