LA/NYR Deep at C, Top line RW

Created by: SmugTkachuk
Team: 2018-19 Calgary Flames
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 28, 2018
Published: Mar. 28, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Contract wise Brouwer and Frolik come off at the same time as Toffoli opening up a ton of cap space in 2020-21. Which in theory would be an ideal time frame for the Flames to really make a push at a cup. As much as I would like to get rid of the Brouwer contract I just don't think it would happen, I also think if we got a new coaching staff that didn't have an erection for Brouwer he may find himself in the press box a little more often. Our D would probably get shaken up again by that point to open up some top 4 spots for Valimaki and Andersson.

The amount of guys able to play center in this line up I think makes them more versatile through out the game and situations can be tailored to a left or right handed center.

Hoping the Hayes and Johnny connection would be a real thing!

I don't hate the idea of Kevin Hayes going to CGY, he and Johnny Hockey could really do some damage

The trades are fair and Kevin coming to play with Gaudreau will be deadly since their best friends and we’re linemates in college.

Rangers would probably look to deal Namestnikov before they deal Hayes. I think maybe Namestnikov and the Boston 3rd for the same pieces coming back? Calgary and the Rangers make pretty good trading partners since they have so many D prospects that are ready to make the jump.

Super interesting idea, I don't know enough about Namestnikov to agree or disagree, I know he was a part of the big McDonagh trade which obviously opens some eyes. Flames fans get super excited about Hayes because of the Gaudreau connection and I think that is why he is such an easy sell out here.

CGY would never make that deal with Bennett and Fox going for Hayes. Hayes is a good player with a history with Gaudreau, but NYR would have to add something here, especially if Fox and Kylington are in the deal.

Like the Toffoli deal though. Righthanded young shooter is a great target player for the Flames.

That’s giving up the farm for Hayes. Way too much. Just because he played with Gaudreau and did well doesn’t mean much. Ferland did the same thing.

you seem to be confusing Kevin Hayes with a much much better hockey player....
and prematurely giving up on Bennett
