They can, I think only 3 teams can retain on a contract total

Why does L.A make those trades to aquire the 5th rounder from dallas when they had to give up a 5th rounder and they end up paying a part of a big salary.

2. The first team can retain up to 50% of the original salary. The second can retain up to 50% of the remaining salary.

So they keep 2.5 mil in salary for a few draft spots. Makes no sense. 2019 draft to if you finish worse than dallas you actually trade away a better pick than you get.

This. LA just agreed to pay millions of dollars to swap 5th round picks. Seems unlikely.

I mean, it's not much worse than Vegas' return for the Brassard scam, but LA is not as crazy as Vegas.
