....named Cody.
Between Bass, Eakin, Franson, Gloubef, and McLeod, someone is definitely worse than Ceci. Maybe even two guys. Eakin is safe, just because Vegas is so amazingly decent. Franson has some good years. Bass plays tougher defensive minutes than Ceci. Goloubef seems like the sure shot, with zero games played this year, but that means he's also made zero turnovers for zero goals against. McLeod's plus minus is a lot better than Ceci's, at a merely bad -11 but he plays wing and has a third as many points as Ceci. I think it's McLeod. So, yeah, top five.
Nah, jokes aside, I think Cody ceci plays tough defensive minutes on a team having a terrible year. He's facing down a ton of adversity and keeps coming to the rink. At 24 he's got plenty of time to bounce back, but a change of scenery would be merciful. His career -32 is pretty much all accumulated in the last two years. He chips in about twenty points a year, rain or shine. That's worth something to a team in need of right defense. Edmonton is such a team, but RNH's stock has risen as much as Ceci's has fallen during the last year. If that offer was made, I'm guessing it was made last summer, when Edmonton fans thought RNH was a spare part, and when Ceci's one year of scoring some goals was in more recent memory.
Washington needs to focus on Carlson, and doesn't have a roster spot for a defenseman until that's resolved. Now, Ceci might get you close to Carlson's UFA rights, but you'd have to throw in Duchene or Karlsson.
