Ceci is a competent bottom pairing defender, who is capable playing top 4 minutes for a few games. He plays the right side, which is supposedly one of the hardest positions to find players for.

Value wise, he isn't worth a first rounder. Even a player like RNH would require Ottawa adding.
However, he is most certaintly worth more than a 7th rounder. I would expect a 2nd rounder pick and a prospect.
Note: this prospect doesn't mean superstar last 1st round pick. Im talking a guy that projects to be a bottom 6 FWD at the NHL level.

He’s decent I would give him some time, as he is only 24 and still has potential he’s played with Jared Cowen and Dion Phaneuf for like his entire career so he might be good if he plays with either Chabot or Wolanin. We’ll see.

Can be a decent 2nd pairing Dman but asked to do way too much in Ott right now. Limit his minutes and he will look better, he shouldnt be one of t he ice time leaders on that team

Cody Ceci is one of the worst defensemen in the league. He is purely awful. He has no more potential.

Cody Ceci is a top 4 D asked to be a top 2 for Ottawa. He's still young and has been anchored his whole career by Cowen and Phaneuf. When played with Wiercioch, he had a fantastic season and looked like a future rock on the Sens' blueline. I think his value to the Sens is worth more than the value he would get in a trade.

Ceci is trash. I would have gotten a heart attack and a seizure if Yzerman actually traded Drouin for him rather than Sergachev.

I'd trade you Jeff Finger's finger, a signed Dan Girardi puck, some popcorn, a box of Cuban cigars, and a 12-pack of Arizona for him.

Oh, and some future considerations.

5-6 D, gets caved in in a top four role.

Sens should have traded him years ago...now people know he has bottomed out. He had major value before

Only 24 doesn’t cut it in 2018, he should be in his prime. Instead he’s been pretty bad

Between Bass, Eakin, Franson, Gloubef, and McLeod, someone is definitely worse than Ceci. Maybe even two guys. Eakin is safe, just because Vegas is so amazingly decent. Franson has some good years. Bass plays tougher defensive minutes than Ceci. Goloubef seems like the sure shot, with zero games played this year, but that means he's also made zero turnovers for zero goals against. McLeod's plus minus is a lot better than Ceci's, at a merely bad -11 but he plays wing and has a third as many points as Ceci. I think it's McLeod. So, yeah, top five.

Nah, jokes aside, I think Cody ceci plays tough defensive minutes on a team having a terrible year. He's facing down a ton of adversity and keeps coming to the rink. At 24 he's got plenty of time to bounce back, but a change of scenery would be merciful. His career -32 is pretty much all accumulated in the last two years. He chips in about twenty points a year, rain or shine. That's worth something to a team in need of right defense. Edmonton is such a team, but RNH's stock has risen as much as Ceci's has fallen during the last year. If that offer was made, I'm guessing it was made last summer, when Edmonton fans thought RNH was a spare part, and when Ceci's one year of scoring some goals was in more recent memory.

Washington needs to focus on Carlson, and doesn't have a roster spot for a defenseman until that's resolved. Now, Ceci might get you close to Carlson's UFA rights, but you'd have to throw in Duchene or Karlsson.

2nd and a prospect with top 9 potential. He was rushed sadly and should be demoted to number 4 minutes and raise his confidence up.

Ceci gets bashed by a lot of hockey fans but GMs see a lot of value in Ceci. He's been top 10 league wide in blocked shots for the last few seasons, this season he sits at 9th. Since Phaneuf left Ottawa Ceci has looked much better defensively and is using his size far more often: he's currently 24th among D men in hits. He's also in the top 50 for shots on net. He's averaged over 23 minutes a game in Ottawa this year, which is too much ice time, but GMs know he'd be even better if kept in the 18 to 20 minute range. He's got speed, a good breakout pass and a good shot. And he's 24 years old and he's right handed. He's not a top pairing guy, and probably won't ever become one, but he'd be an upgrade to most teams second pairing. Trading him when his hit/salary was 2.8M would've brought back a very good return, but if his new contract is around 4M he might be worth keeping until be brings up his trade value a little.
