We are not giving you reino and the first. Trade holtby to St Louis because Buffalo is not paying that hefty price.

I think by taking back two salary dumps, totaling 1.5x the price of Orpik, one of whom is in the AHL, you've made that deal as fair as you can make it to Buffalo. If they don't want it, they don't want it. Probably if you threw in another couple of NHL forwards, they get interested, but whatever. Their loss.

I don't know if you can really dump Moulson at full price to Arizona, anyway, since I think Bolland is being paid by insurance, and doesn't cost them any real money to keep, but if you could, I like that OEL trade, and I like that you're putting him on the second pair, with Carlson to cover for him a bit.

Are the Sabres a budget team, No. Are the Sabres in cap hell, no. What benefit is a cap dump to them? They're giving up their top 6 RW and a top 3 pick in this years draft for Holtby (who has the same stats as Lehner this year). How is it the Sabres loss to pass? Goalie is the least of their concerns, especially for a lateral move

I dont think its a lateral move, i think its foolish to upgrade at that position if it costs you top skaters or top picks or a high salary for that matter. Teams like chicago and pittsburgh have won cups by focusing on skaters and getting timely saves from average goalies. We are one of the few teams in a soft goalie market that will probably have an opening. I think they are upset that their trade piece does not have the value they would like. I would have liked myers to have had more trade value, or kane for that matter. The markets the market. I bet a team like edmonton gives them something half decent for him. Can you even imagine what the habs would get for price? Is it 10 million for 8 more years on a 30 year old goalie? Shockingly bad. How about if we trade reinhart and our first for an extended oel? Thats more like it.

Totally. Buffalo has goalies. They could use defensemen and forwards.

OEL's a fun one. Worse plus/minus than Beaulieu, but plenty of skill and speed.

The Goalie market is literally the weakest trade market, everybody knows this. I was also being sarcastic about the lateral move, because both Lehner and Holtby have similar stats this year. Lehner and Ullmark are good enough to win games, the Sabres need talented forwards

Unless it's a sign and trade on Carlson I don't think the Caps have any defense to offer besides Orpik. I do think Orpik would upgrade Buffalo's 2nd pair next year, significantly, and that he brings a lot of leadership and experience. I think the ideal return would be a cap dump of 3 or 4M., whom the Caps can then buy out more cheaply than they would buy out Orpik if no one wants him. Even better would be two cap dumps totaling 4M, whom the Caps can just bury in the minors. I know Moulson isn't playing this year. Is anybody else just taking up space?
