That Tampa trade doesn't satisfy the leafs at all. Why are they trading to address a strength while weakening an already poor d-core?

Their only weakness was Polak. They are just young. Just wait for them to develop. Look out for Dermott he will surprise you.

That's not my point, they already have a surplus of forwards, why do they want another one, and to get that asset, they have to trade away a position in which they are thin, even with Dermott

The Johnson trade only makes sense if he plays centre (replacing Bozak) and Nylander stays on the wing. If Nylander is at centre, Leafs have RWers to take his place. A trade or UFA signing, even for short term on defence would be preferable.
Forward group is good, but Liljegren is not NHL ready, and Holl probably isn't an NHLer .
