Jets Fans...what do you want for Tyler Myers? + (ARI - Dvorak) (DAL - Hanzal)

Description
Winnipeg Trade:

Just messing around but mostly interested in what the Leafs would need to send to Winnipeg in exchange for Myers. Myers will be on the last year of his contract and it appears Winnipeg is likely to move him/let him walk as a UFA and let Trouba move up the depth chart.

Dallas Trade:
I don't think Sparks will pass through waivers next September assuming the Leafs still plan on using McElhinney as the backup next year. I'm moving him and Martin (cap dump) to Dallas for Hanzal (bigger cap dump). Lehtonen will be a UFA next year and Dallas might want a young, affordable backup. Hanzal may still have some value but Dallas may enjoy the cap savings to be able to sign their pending UFAs. Leafs need depth at C and, if you offset Hanzal's cap hit with Martin's, it's not a terrible tradeoff for them.

Arizona Trade:
Not sure how highly Zona values Dvorak. Hunter would be very familiar with him from his London Knights days and Leafs get a young C that's ready to play now and give up Aaltonen who might be another year or two away. I have no idea if Zona would have interest in Gardiner but they might see him as a cheaper re-signing than OEL (or perhaps trade OEL for a decent haul in a separate trade).

I think the Myers trade makes a lot of sense for both teams. Especially if Trouba proves himself this offseason to be a dominant top pairing guy. WPG will need cap for Laine, Wheeler, Trouba and Conner in the next two years.
Also value is probably there for Myers, maybe someone a little better than Leivo but I also have never really seen Leivo play or heard much about him to have a real opinion.

Leaf fans haven't really seen much of Leivo either. He does well when he gets in the lineup...gets some second unit PP time...but he's part of the logjam at the wings for the Leafs and I just don't see a future for him here. Consider him similar value to a 4th round pick as I'm guessing that's what the leafs might get if they just traded him straight up

I think it's way too big a price to for one year of Myers, a first round pick and more. Surely there better and cheaper guys available than a 4.75m Hanzal to play fourth liner centre Aaltonen is older than Dvorak, I don't see Coyotes giving up on him so soon. Holl and Liljegren on Leafs next year?

I think Holl is an ideal 7th dman unless the Leafs keep Polak or Carrick. I don't like Hanzal at the price...but if you read the description, I'm mentally offsetting it by moving Martin the other way so it's more like $2.25m which I'm more comfortable with (vs. keeping Martin and finding some $1m vet to sign like they did with Moore).

Never hear much about Dvorak so, while I agree it might take more to get him...it would depend on if Zona likes adding a top-4 d-man instead.

As for Myers...I'm assuming any trade to bring a D-man like him in would be with plans on extending him...and assuming the money Gardiner is likely to ask for in an extension would be allocated instead to Myers. When you factor in the acquisition costs to bring in a top 4 RHD, Myers seems to be the most affordable. I'd also prefer him to, say, a guy like Ryan Ellis who'll also be on the last year of his deal and might fetch even more in a trade. The pieces offered in this particular trade don't really have long term futures with the leafs (including a late first which is a crap shoot anyway).

While I accept you can't assume trading for a guy in his final year means the Leafs will extend him...I don't think it's fair to think the team trading him away will accept a lower return because of it.

Never thought I'd see another team put together an offer for Hanzal. As a Stars fan, I sign this as soon as it's sent over, and bribe the league office to pass through before Toronto has the chance to realize what they've done. Maybe they meant to offer something for Honka, autocorrected to Hanzal, and the rest is history!

haha...nice...I figured it makes sense for both teams sending unwanted contracts to each other (Matt Martin - Hanzal)...Stars gain the benefit of more cap space...Leafs get C depth they need anyway.

As a Jets fan, I would far rather see you make an offer to acquire Byfuglien and his $7.6M contract. Jets should be content moving forward with Trouba, Myers and Poolman on the right side next season.

Interesting. I'm sure there'd probably be interest in big buff from Toronto's end. He's been relatively healthy and productive and has the frame to maybe keep that pace up over the remaining 3 years of the deal.

Don’t need Dvorak and Hanzel (pick 1 of the two) but I’m a fan (I don’t see JVR coming back though)

Agreed. Looking back at this now I wouldn't touch Hanzal. Leafs will have one or both of Aaltonen/Lindholm for bottom 6 centre. I'm guessing only one of those two cracks the roster but I guess that's what training camp will be for. I'm also very skeptical they bring JVR back too.

I'll take a peak at some of your ACGM teams
