I say the oilers look in a different direction. I think they give out way to much for one d when there are deals out there that u can balance the d with 2 way forwards in free agency.

That is the way too much for the oilers to give up

Pietrangelo would have four seasons as a Oiler then UFA. Might be too much to give up a top 3 draft pick. With a limited rise in cap this summer, there may be teams willing to trade "big contracts" at bargain prices. Not as good as Pietrangelo, but might be able to some get at very good value. Sure looks like there won't be many teams with "lots" of cap room.

I actually really like this deal. Peitrrangelo is an elite D and oilers obviously have to trade a lot but he will help them win now and for many years to come

The Oilers can have all the skilled forwards in the world but without the proper defense to get those forwards the puck they have absolutely no hope in hell to enter the post season let alone contend for the cup.

Pietrangelo was on Team Canada in 2014, he's an extremely valuable asset.

Who could those defenders be? Viktor Hedman out of Tampa?

Thanks, Pietrangelo's talent aside it lets the younger defenders in Klefbom, Nurse & Davidson not play out of their depth. Not to mention he's right handed. The Oilers have 0 RD prospects in the system and only Mark Fayne under contract after the current season.
