Tbh I’d take that for Ovechkin as a caps fan. This team looks really good too

Ovi as a 3rd line winger?
    The lineup:
    Ovi/JT/Kyrou
    Schwartz/B.Schenn/Tarasenko
    Fabbri/Thomas/Gallagher
    Jaskin/Brodziak/Soshnikov
    Barbashev
    Parayko & Pietrangelo
    Dunn & Edmundson
    Walman & Wideman
    Bortuzzo
    Allen
    Hutton

Fabbri’s going to need time to readjust after missing the entire 2017-18 campaign. I’d start him 3rd line.
They don’t need Reaves or Oduya. Use the extra money to raise Hutton to like 3-4M.

You know it´s a great team if you have Ovechkin on the third line. The powerplay would be deadly.

However, as a Caps fan I´m not up for trading Ovechkin just yet, but the value is probably there!

Did this trade actually take place?
    10/07/2016
    • Edmonton to St. Louis: Nail Yakapov
    • St. Louis to Edmonton: 2nd Rnd ('18)
    • St. Louis to Edmonton: Zach Pochiro
If it did happen, SLB do not have a 2nd in 2018. I know CF shows SLB shows a pick but DraftSite does not.

The trade was Pochiro+2017 3rd round for Yakupov. If Yakupov would have scored 15+ goals for the Blues then Blues give an additional 2018 2nd round pick. Since Yakupov didn't score 15 fpr the Blues, Blues retained the 2nd

Very interesting trade. While WSH would never do this (even though they probably should), the team looks unbeatable. I would not sign Oduya, Reaves, Wideman and Hutton. Hutton will likely pull a Darling and want to start and get paid close to 4 million. Ride with Husso as backup and maybe sign a DeHaan or similar LHD if they are available for 3-4 million.

I put Ovi on the 3rd line to help Thomas. My lines approach is pairs of players who can work well together and then add in a young guy who can learn as he goes. I think Tavares and Tarasenko would be a great pair because each is able to create space, draw an over-reaction from the defense, and either finish themselves or find someone wide open. Fabbri would fit great on that first line because he can drive the play, obviously he has to be healthy first. Schwatz and Schenn work great together so Kyrou could feed off their tenacious work. Ovechkin is the best goal scorer in the league and Gallagher is always in the middle of things. Thomas in between those two would be ideal.
