No. None of those are necessary. Closest is the Ehrhoff acquisition. But LAK aren't going to be taking in Salary right now.

These trades aren't going to get it done. The only semi-realistic one is Cole for Ehrhoff if the Kings think Cole could make the roster, but I don't see the Pens wanting Ehrhoff back (though they may make the move if its available to get out of Cole's term).

As for the Russell trade... Just no chance. If you want a comparison point for the price of rentals this year, Spaling just fetched a 2nd round pick. If a player of Spaling's caliber can snag a second, no chance Russell gets moved for a 3rd, especially retaining salary.

Weise is a possibility, but I still think you'd be looking at a 2nd instead of a third with him. Erixon has 0 trade value, so him being in that trade changes nothing, other than contract numbers.

Blame San Jose for raising the asking price of all rentals or else this would be entirely possible

Its not even entirely that he's offering 3rd rounders over seconds... But I highlt doubt Montreal is going to be interested in giving up Weise for Plotniknov and a 3rd in a draft 2 years from now. Basically a decent player that they probably won't sign again for a bench warmer and an asset they cant use for at least 2 years, probably another 2-3 to develop the draft pick after that.

If these were 2016 3rds, it'd be closer, but I still don't think it would get the deal done.

yeah even without SJ raising the price (although they rid themselves of Raffi Torres who will never play in toronto as well) these trades don't happen. Plotnikov cant get out of the pressbox and Erixon can't even crack the Pens NHL roster over Warsofsky and this Olesky kid they called up. I doubt you could get a bag of dirty jock straps for Plotnikov
