NYR does not trade their 1C for only one first round pick. They're keeping him unless you give up a king's ransom.

doubt Tavares signing with islanders 1 and I don't see nyr trading ziba to their arch rivals for only a 1st it would need to be both 1sts and a prospect a good one not top tier for a 1st liner that is 24 and only a great contract.

or a deal like Stefan for a 1st and Deangelo a top D prospect who had a good NHL season raising his value enought to make it worth giving up Stefan.
now they are beggining a rebuild and both key pieces in the Stefan deal look like they'll be a big part of that .

the Zabinijeb deal needs more then a 1st , it needs the rights to De Haan or a prospect like Dal Colle who will get his chance to start at the NHL level on the ground floor of a rebuild .

So if its a sign-and-trade bc JT feels the Isles should get something you have to know or believe a few things:
-He gets to pick the team-duh! He can sign anywhere he wants on the open market why not choose? Will probably limit the choices
-Assumption that he wants to help Snow and Co. out. If he's leaving, its for a reason, helping out is nice but not real-world. If Snow and ownership made moves at the TDl to make the team better, that shows JT that they are considering the product on the ice going forward not just the real estate part of this.
-If they find a team who is agreeable to JT, is that team willing to part with such a large haul going the other way, knowing they have a similar shot in FA to get him for just cash on his contract? I don't know the history but, how often has a top-flight player going to FA get a major haul for a sign and trade.
Maybe he does bring in some of these options, i'd be surprised though.

I would even think more than that tbh. 27 goals in 72 and was playing through the injury for some time. He's 24 so he's entering the prime of his career. I think Isles could be able to grab spooner but I think NYR want to see what they have from Hayes, Zib and Namest.
