No way Nashville gets rid of Ekholm though. Sabres would be loaded on LHD too, especially if they draft first overall, which isnt a problem if some of them are comfortable playing off hand

Nashville still has quite a few good young defenceman moving up though and I don’t think their satisfied with Johansons play this year and might be looking to shore up the center position.

On the Buffalo side I just think you need a better top four in general. Risto is to young to be handling that whole burden himself, getting an elite mature partner for him and moving Scandella down is what I think Buffalo is missing to not be as pathetic as they generally are. They have elite young skill up front but need guys who can actually play some defence

No doubt they need to get better, on Buffalo's side of this they say hell yes. I was more concerned with the NSH side of this

Lol yeah mediocre cup favorites Nashville with their President's Trophy and their average roster.

Would the Sabres trade ROR for Joel Edmundson and Ivan Barbashev and a pick?

I can't see Nashville trading any of their top 4. Subbanator7667, i get what you're saying about Nashville's other defensemen, but Fabbro is the most likely to be moved. That top 4 is a huge part of why they went to the final last year. They'll keep all four guys IMO.

He isn't worth Ekholm+Jarnkrok but IMO you're undervaluing him.

BigBeardBurns is saying he'd be a top 2 defenseman on a mediocre team. He's the Preds' 3rd best, since they have Josi and Subban.

Oh that makes more sense, thanks. And I agree that Ekholm + Jarnkrok is probably too much for ROR so I was aiming just a bit lower. I feel like Edmundson is following the same trajectory as Ekholm, just about 4 years younger. Might be a better fit for a young Sabres team. Same goes for Barbashev, he could end up a similar player to Jarnkrok but has some rounding out to do (also Barby is 4 yrs younger than Jarnkrok).

Nashville would be stupid to trade Ekholm... BEST TOP 4 D/COST CONTROL in the league player!
Ellis is more tradeable than him IMO

Nashville don't need centres. And ROR isn't that good to get Ekholm straight up especially since Ekholm makes exactly half of ROR salary.
