ROR to NSH scenario 2

Created by: Shibbal18
Team: 2018-19 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 13, 2018
Published: Apr. 13, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Nsh trade: Nashville loads up at C and gets a 2nd for Ellis, with one year left. They wont have to pay him and theyre loaded at RHD anyway. Bonino doesnt seem to be living up to his contract (and ROR is a massive improvement over him to begin with) Girgenson gets a second chance to get his game back. They also swap depth players. Gaudreau gets more NHL time in Buffalo.
NYI trade: Islanders get a starting goalie that is used to keeping teams in games and a bottom 6 forward. Lehner is an improvement over what they had and brings more stability in net. Ilses give up a second and a depth D prospect.
PIT trade: Pit saves some money gets a LHD who shows flashes, Sabres get an experienced forward Botts has familiarity with.
OTT trade: depends how OTT sees Anderson, he's really old and is coming off a bad season, Sabres take the cap hit off of OTT to bring him in as a mentor who can play 20-30 games. Sabres exchange some lower tier prospects, a second, take on that cap hit for Formenton. If OTT is too attached to Anderson, Sabres can go find a cheaper one in free agency

Oh man we just moved on from an Ottawa goalie please do not saddle us with another one who is 36 yo. I would not even bother with the OTT deal instead sign Nemi or Ward for less than Anderson's $4,750,000.

I am good with Ellie instead of Elkholm. I really like pushing the pick to 2020.

I like the Vanek signing and the Haglein trade. He provides speed on teh wing.

Thanks for moving Larsson and also getting a 2nd for Lehner.

Very well done all around!!!!!

I do like Formenton, he has good personal chemistry with Cliff Pu, down the road i see them as the Sabres 3rd line wingers, so having that establish chemistry then developing in the A together i think would be beneficial. Also I think highly of Anderson's character, I'm thinking of him more as a locker room leader. With the way the locker room has been i think hes worth the price. He's also off the books before any major investments are made towards their RFAs

Bonino’s offense is down, but I have no desire to package him with Ellis and get an upgrade down the middle. The centers we have are more than capable of doing the job. Bonino fits that 3C perfectly, even if he’s slightly overpaid based on point production this year. It would be great for Buffalo’s defense, but I think we’d say thanks, but no thanks.

What if thats the difference between stanley cup finalists and Stanley Cup champions. Even if ROR was put on the 3rd line his intangibles are better than Bonino. He's top 3 in the faceoff dot in the league and very responsible in his own zone. Nashville ends up saving cap space not having to resign Ellis too, whom i assume gets 6 to 7.5 mill next year. What kind of deal would you look for? (doesnt even have to be a Sabres deal)

You claim Nashville is loaded at rhd anyway.... after losing Ellis.... Yannick Weber would have to become a #4 and a rook would need to play #6.... I don’t understand how that could be conceived as loaded.... seems like you made a bigger hole for them than they had in the first place.

Maybe I'm buying into hype but I think Fabbro is good enough to step into a line with Ekholm, they also have Carrier and Allard who are doing well in the A (I know that doesn't mean much till they prove it in the show, but at least this gives them a year or 2 to show it), Dougherty provides some depth with Weber. That or they keep Irwin on the right side and bring Emelin back as the bottom pair LHD

I don’t think that’s rational to think because they have ahlers #6/7s and one top 4 prospect it makes a current top 4 expendable to trade for a 7.5m dollar player top play 3rd c.... this trade makes them worse imo.

he is better than Turris, he'd be 2C at worst. Carrier and Allard are prospects they'll be 22 and 21 respectively. These are guys they drafted to play in the NHL, who are tearing up the AHL, not guys like Justin Falk and Matt Tennyson being in the NHL for half a season

Honestly, I’d be surprised if we don’t resign Ellis to a deal similar to Josi’s, and trade Allard or Dougherty. Fabbro and Carrier would get eased into that 3rd pairing to develop more. I personally believe Ellis adds more on the back end for us than having an upgrade at 3C would do. This team really took off when he came back from injury.
