Depends on who's available, of course, but there are a few guys I take before Dobson.

At No#9... who?
Whalstrom, Bouchard, Hugues will all be gone... and you don't need a C in Veleno (enough young F-depth when Yakamoto, Slephychev, Pulj fitting for 2 top spot)
I would go for a Solid Top D personally.

So would I, if Wahlstrom isn't available. But Dobson wouldn't be my first choice - Edmonton needs a defenseman with more offense - but again, we don't know who is going to be available at #9.

Here you can use this as an example... and choose for No#9 or more squinty smile

Someone will drop, they always do. But if you're forcing me to choose just one defenseman from this list I would take Ty Smith.

Pronman on Smith: "Smith is a good skater who can get up the ice and lead a rush. He has above-average puck skills and can make the odd dynamic play, showing skill on the attack or creating space for a zone exit. His best trait is his hockey IQ, as his instincts and decision-making with the puck are very good. Smith is small, but he’s solid defensively due to his feet and IQ. He works to get to pucks and can be trusted to play in all situations — even if his calling card is more on the offensive side of the puck. Other than his size, I don’t see a glaring weakness in his game, and I think he’ll be a two-way defenseman in the NHL despite his frame."

On Dobson: "I like the way he skates and can activate into the attack for a big man, and with his size/mobility, he can stay with most attackers without issue. My questions on Dobson revolve around his skill level. His hands are average and, as the levels get quicker, I don’t know if the high level of points and shots on goal he’s shown this season translates to the NHL."

Exactly... I personally think a defensive big guy is more needed in Edm than a small quick speedy. McJesus carry the puck for all of them :-)

They already have Larsson and Nurse, they need puck-moving d-men. There's a reason why Bear got so much playing time in the last 18 games, and it sure as hell wasn't his defensive play!

Here's what Chairelli said at the year-end presser:

“I think our speed starts at the back end and getting the puck up through the zones quickly. That’s not putting all the onus on the defense, but that’s part of it, and so that’s an area where we’ll have to tweak.”

Fair enough: Than Go for Veleno... and Trade RNH for Faulk or Brodin
