Flyers Internal Youth Movement v1.0

Created by: JSG
Team: 2018-19 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 19, 2018
Published: Apr. 19, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Who would you promote from AHL to NHL after this season?

If this season has shown us anything, is that we should really see what these kids can do. Frustrating to see some speed and skill sitting on the bench.

Fire Hakstol and promote AHL coach Gordon. He has the ability to work with veterans and can continue to develop the kids in NHL.
Simmonds deal, team is irrelevant. Don't read anything into EDM specifically. Simmonds is still a good player. Not fully healthy a good part of the season and lost his role. Trade will do him good, provide a team a good 25+ goals. Worth a 1st rounder and high prospect, preferably a RW.

The rest of the trades are making room for the kids. Have fun with all the cap space.

Flyers need a new goalie ASAP if they want to do anything! Elliott and Stolarz are definitely not the answer.

You are trading a potential #1 draft pick along with a prior #4 draft pick just two years into his career for a would be 30 year old winger with one year left on his contract who is coming off his worst season in 5 years.

Edmonton much better to stay the course and grow from the farm.

I genuinely believe your team will become too easy to push around. Your D core will look a lot like Carolina's, skilled but soft/inexperienced. I'm not too sure what the Flyers can do to improve, they're in a weird spot.

Didn't realize how old Simmonds was, so you're right! But prior to this year, Simmonds has been a beast. The way I say it was that the Oilers would bounce back next year and that the 1st would be a late first and I know Puljujärvi is a supposed "4th Overall" pick but he ain't a franchise player or arguably even a top 6 forward. He's been underwhelming the last 2 years.

All, keep in mind what the description says... Team is irrelevant. This is strictly for a 1st round pick plus prospect from any team that Simmonds will waive his NMC. Here I was looking for a likely mid-1st and a RW. In EDM's case, they shouldn't be nearly as bad as this season and I haven't seen that prospect's name in the Oilers lineup even though he was a high pick and a RW so picked him.

Philly has needed a goalie for forever and a day. That goalie is expected to be Carter Hart. All other goalies have gotten short term contracts as a stop-gap measure until he (or Felix Sandstrom) arrives on the scene.

This is fair that they might get pushed around a little bit up front. Hagg will be their big hitter. Gudas does little of that now (except in practice) since he is scared of another suspension. He needs that lost edge again. Provy and Ghost have enough experience to help with the kids and they the talent to back up their words by example. Besides the d-coaches will also help with that up there.
