Winger For Draisaitl

Created by: CD282
Team: 2018-19 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 17, 2018
Published: Apr. 19, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Draisaitl needs a shooter much more than McDavid does, IMO.

Experience on the left wing, youth on the right. I have no idea which RW ends up on which line, but placed them where I thought makes the most sense. I changed out quite a few players from the bottom six, as this area dragged the team down this year and needs a shakeup.

I'm sure people will freak over the trades, but they aren't unfair from what I can see.

AZ - Fischer is 4 years younger than Strome and posting similar numbers, but Strome is a center and played quite a lot with Lucic, which hampered his numbers I'm sure. I added Slepyshev, a goal-scorer in KHL who McLellan was unable to unlock (maybe because he forced the skill player to play a checking role on the 4th line?) and needs to move on.

NC - Carolina needs toughness and don't have a backup signed for next season yet, I grabbed a minor-leaguer and a late pick in return.

The downside here is it requires an $82M cap.

Fischer would be a huge add I love the idea. Maybe even perlini? This team structure is very nice if we can get these pieces you obtained I'd move out first an someone else for Faulk I hate seeing benning in the top 4 haha

Fisher is the only valuable RW in Arz.. so almost untouchable IMO
JVR would be the perfect fit on the LW... but probably at 7M a year for more than 4y as he is only 28... go for 7yx7M
and Statsny will request 6-7M as well... Montreal will be giving him 4 x 7M...
So yes go with JVR and look for better D option trade or signature if you have the $$$ for Carlson or Green

He's unlikely to repeat this year's SP, probably be more like 0.915 next year which is his career average. This is the biggest payday he's ever had.

I think this is a generous contract for a 32-year-old career backup.

Is Faulk better than Benning? The evidence says no.

Yeah, I know that's controversial, but look up the stats before pulling out the knives please. TOI, OZ starts, PP TOI, 5x5 GF/GA, etc.

I like the Stasnty idea. Why not put him with Drai and have Drai on the wing, similar idea to McNuge? I feel like Max Domi is gettable out of AZ. Top six of
RNH-McD-Rattie?
Leon-Stastny-Domi
Maybe sign Derek Ryan as a 3C?
And maybe somehow get Faulk out of Carolina.

PS. Could do without JvR and would like so see Yamo in the AHL for a season. Maybe bring him up if there is an injury.

Great job! For the Oilers this will be a very competitive team and all of the moves are pretty realistic.

ARI doesn't do that trade

Why would a budget team trade a 21yr old on an ELC that just posted 33 points as a rookie for a 34 point guy in Strome who will cost 2.75-3mill. Also Slepyshev probably ends up in the KHL, he's not an NHL player

Stastny will get a lot more on the UFA market, in term and salary.

The forwards are excellent. The defense is mostly the game as last year, so not good enough.

Stastny and Hutton likely cost a lot more.

In 2019-20 we’d have to re-sign Talbot, Pool party and 4 others with about 10M in cap room. Doesn’t seem likely.

Sekera and Russell have NMC's that loosen up next summer, I don't think cap space will be a huge problem for this group.
