I feel with the Karlson trade you would still need to take on Bobby Ryan or add more to the trade. Plus I feel that it would be more of a top young player like Marner or Nylander to get Karlsson. Otherwise it's interesting

I still feel like there’s a lot of value in that deal for the Senators though. A 24 year old 20 goal scorer, a forward who has never been given a legit NHL chance but has shown scoring potential (just look at Vegas for examples of these types of players), an elite defensive prospect and 2 first round picks. Not many other teams will be willing to part with this much. Plus, the other teams in the league that were rumoured to be interested in Karlsson (Vegas, San Jose to mention a couple) don’t have young players comparable to Marner or Nylander. So, chances are the Senators aren’t getting that type of young player for him.
