Easy win by the habs. Danault has been great the last couple years.

Why you gotta do me like that? I saw a confirmed trade between MTL and CHI and thought another trade happened. I was pumped until I saw it was an old one

MTL got burned with one of the 2nd rd picks they sent in the Shaw trade (Debrincat), hopefully Habs can return the favor with the 2018 2nd rd pick they got in this deal. Also Danault is doing pretty solid, ideally I would want him as a #3C on a contending team, but he can easily slot as a #2C

Id say with this trade + the debrincat one they break even unless the 2nd rd picks turn into a stud

Ladies and gentleman.

Marc Bergevin's best trade as GM of the MTL Canadiens. Other than claiming Byron off waivers, the only thing he really can be proud of.

This trade would only sting if we didnt get DeBrincat and Krys for Shaw at the draft a few months later

I think it's time we take Krys off of that list. Not that he's a bust, but his NHL career is looking more and more unlikely every day.

Most Dmen dont make the league within 3 years of being drafted.. the guy is 21.

Not to mention that Krys played college hockey. He's in his first pro season. @HabsForEver

He will be 22 this hockey season and he current has 3 points in 8 games in the AHL. Was a (-) player in his last year in college and was a (-) last year in his first AHL season. I wouldn't be too optimistic right now.

You're using +/- as a way to back up your argument? You have much to learn, young grasshopper.

There isn't alot to go on. He's 21 and has played 17 career AHL games. It's really the only thing that stands out.

He had the worst +/- Boston University in his last year there.

Nothing I see about him screams good prospect.

BU in general was a trash last year in terms of scoring also in regards to your highly touted +/- argument there was only 6 skaters for BU with a positive +/- and the only Dman listed there was a +1 and the highest being a +4 hardly worth caring about.

Regardless of his +/- stats, he isn't doing anything promising to be regarded as a good prospect.

In a 2020 standpoint this trade is an absolute fleecing for the Habs. Danault is a solid top 6 center, Weise is playing half decent 4th line minutes and Romanov looks like a steal at 38.

This is just a hypothesis, but Danault was in the last year of his ELC, so maybe they decided to give up on him. Weise was having a pretty good season as well. Perhaps they saw it as a 2nd for Weise and then Danault for Fleischmann?

Danault had 5 points in 30 games at 22. When the trade was made, I put Danault and Matteau on the same hype level. Two former 1st's that were in bust territory.

One guy worked out, one guy didn't. Montreal lucked out on Danault improving. IMO it was Weise and Fleishmann for a 2nd and Danault was a throw in.

Sometimes it's nice to officially hear stuff from the players. Dale Weise talking about his exit interview with the Hawks that year. Maybe all the blame doesn't fall on Bowman.

People were talking about the Paicioretty deal being a fleece. Reminds me of Fleischmann and this glorious Bowman special.
