Description
Well my goal with this team was to take on a few bad contracts to attract quality prospects &/or draft picks in order to further the rebuild process.

In taking on the bad contracts (Kruger, Ennis, Hagelin (though he may be worthy of signing after 2018/2019) which all expire after the 2018/2019 season (one year of pain) we also move out some of the old tired players.

Kane signs in San Jose so condition kicks in and we get the 1st Round pick of SJS in 2019.

We agree to take on Kruger's contract from Carolina sending ROR, McCabe, Fasching and a 2020 2nd pick for Jake Bean & a 2020 3rd Round pick. Bean is a perfect compliment to the young core defense that is developing in Rochester (Guhle, Borgen & hopefully Dahlin). Carolina does not have to disrupt the current D and get that true legit #2C.

I send Griffith & Beaulieu retaining $1,200,000 of Beaulieu salary to Pittsburgh for Hagelin & a 2021 3rd Round pick. Pittsburgh sheds salary and picks up two fillers in exchange Buffalo gets some speed on the wing.

The Detroit deal is simple Sabres get speed in exchange for the 2019 SJS 1st Round pick and the Sabres 5th Round pick in 2020.

In the Philly deal Lehner going to Philly gives them a #1 goalie to allow Carter Hart to develop. The Sabres get back a nice D prospect (but not the franchises top D prospect) and Gudas. Adding Gudas allows the Flyers to trim salary.

My last trade involved Minnesota shedding a bad contract in Ennis getting back a former #1 draft pick of their own in Larsson and the Sabres get draft pick compensation for taking on the Ennis contract.

Middelstadt will play #3C to develop his game.
Guhle and Nylander start the year in Rochester so that they can further develop and not be exposed to the losing that will continue in 2018/2019. The big club will look to call them up when the Sabres elect to send players packing before the trade deadline.

As always I hope you enjoy the team I have put together. I welcome all feedback both positive and negative.

Thank you for taking the time to review the team I have published.....

Ericsson has a 19 team not trade list, Pretty sure Buffalo is included. And no way we're dealing AA to move Ericsson's contract. Buffalo is as bad as Detroit right now. No way Ericsson is waiving for Buffalo.

    Thank you for your feedback.

As I stated in my description I do not expect the Detroit faithful to agree with my trade. I am not surprised with your feedback.

One correction Buffalo is the worst hockey team in the NHL.... that competition is not even close.

FWIW Detroit doesn't need to move out AA, To make room for Mantha, Bertuzzi and Frk even any one is moved out it will be Martin Frk before it would be Andreas Athanasiou any ways. AA will only be dealt for a good D prospect or a late 1st round pick according from Holland.

You're welcome, Pretty sure there's quite a few GMs that would love to add AA's speed to their lineup.

Well based on your persuasive information I have changed the Detroit deal sending the 2019 SJS 1st Round pick and 2020 5th Round pick to Detroit for AA.

Looks good, I know the rumored asking from Holland for AA was either a late 1st round pick or a 2nd+D prospect some thing like that.
