We're not getting anything for Alzner and idk what we can really get for Weber. If he wouldn't have this horrible contract he would have good value but as it stands....

Better question: why would you trade for two lesser goalies and a RW that has yet to make a mark?

For a fresh start. To play on a team that has McDavid. For Montreal to start the rebuild and to save MTL money.

The question is to make a trade so MTL can start a rebuild.

MTL saves money. Price has been quite injury prone the last couple years.

Petry is a top 4 RHD that could get u a pick and a good forward.
Pacioretty for C prospect plus 1st (the standard on CF)
Alzner full contract for a 6th or 7th (retained for a 3rd or 4th)
Weber could get u a 1st and a good prospect.
Price could get u the most. Maybe another starting goalie plus a 1st plus 2 good prospects.
Benn and Schlemko for 4th and 6th or 7th round picks.

Based on that assessment, why would Edmonton make that trade?

Price is nowhere near done. Both Roy and Brodeur played their best hockey in their mid 30s. So if you're parting with Price as part of a rebuild, it's still not clear why you'd take Puljujarvi, who has done nothing on an offensively-contoured team, and TWO so-so goalies. It makes entirely no sense.

Note on Weber: his cap hit is $7.8 for forever, but actual salary is $6M for the next four years, drops to $3M for the fifth year and then is just $1M for the remaining 3 years. He'll probably retire partway through, but for a team like Carolina or Arizona, the big cap hit helps them make the cap floor, but the salary isn't outrageous. Teams like Toronto, Chicago, etc can afford literally any salary number but can't fit him under cap. If you find the right trading partner I'm sure a trade can be done that would benefit both teams.

That said, don't expect a huge return.

Yeah that's what alot of people say but if you trade Weber to the Coyotes just because he helps them reach the floor you can't expect them to pay big. Maybe a second rounder?

Yeah, I don't know. They'd know that they had Montreal in a tight spot with few options, but Weber can still play hockey... as long as he recovers from the surgery - he's untradeable until he's back.
