WPG CGY off-season trade

Created by: TotheNorth
Team: 2018-19 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 23, 2018
Published: Apr. 23, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Most moves this off-season will be for CAP reasons. Jets have some big pay days coming and won't be able to afford all their young talent. First casualty of that is Kyle Connor as that's the only major move made this off-season. It's a move to acquire an A level RHD prospect in Adam Fox as well as getting another 1st round pick to stock the cupboards. It's a tough pill to trade Connor for a unproven prospect but the value of RHD in the league is crazy and you have to get them before they're playing in the NHL. It's basically a Sergachev for Drouin style trade. Winnipeg needs a RHD A level prospect, and since they won't be drafting anywhere in the top 15 for the next forseable future, they'll have to acquire one another way. Also they've got Vesalainen coming in who after a stellar year in the Liiga looks NHL ready.

Fox and Samberg will form the top pairing for the Moose and hopefully they develop together and become another pairing in the NHL in a couple years to keep this teams Stanley Cup Contending window open even longer.

Fox has already said he's going back to Harvard next year, but Kudos for actually giving up a good asset in your proposal.

Connor scored 31 goals as a 21 year old rookie, and as a Flames fan I would make this deal.

Why would the jets make this deal? Jets are in win now and this is a win later deal?
