-5 in a game 7. Do you think he will be back next season?

I think the better question is if Nylander will be. Kid was invisible for 95% of the series and I'm surprised there wasn't more production out of Matthews

Nylander will be back. He's one of their young stars.

I think he will. I, myself, feel like he's overrated, but even if it's game 7, it's still just one game. I think he'll be back next year.

If TOR can flip him for some backend help, I think they do it.

100% agree with you. After this season I see Marner as the better winger, and I see Kapanen ready to breakout if he's given the ice time. Our defense this season has been unacceptable and Nylander has really never shown he's more than a second line winger this season. Trading Nylander for a quality RHD would be something I'd be right behind of in support.

The two guys that terrified me every time they had the puck was Marner and Kapanen. IMO Marner is the total package and is going to be an amazing player for a long time. Kapanen is just so fast and shifty, kind of reminds me of Pastrnak. I know Matthews gets a lot of attention, but IMO those two had a bigger impact on the series than Matthews did. I know Kapanen finished with 1 goal, but he could have easily had 4-5 in this series.

Andersen was only responsible for a couple of those goals. The rest of the Leafs could never even get the puck out of there own zone without icing it. For sure Andersen wasn't as spectacular as he usually is but the blame for this loss to Boston rests on three factors:

1. Matthews and Nylander not showing up.
2. Horrendous defense (mainly Gardiner).
3. Poor possession (Boston controlled the puck pratically the entire series.

If we didn't have Andersen, Boston would have sent us packing in 5 games.

Anderson was playing out of his mind towards the end of that series. There were so many times you'd see the replay and realize that it wasn't a bad bounce for Boston, it was Anderson making an incredible save. The guy had no business making some of those saves and he made them look so easy.

Will Gardiner be a Leafs Dman next year? I just wish he was a Dman last night. Good chance he will be Leaf next year, but he won't be resigned for sure. Trouble with Jake he he will play 41 good/very good games and then 41 bad/very bad games/. So a coach who can figure out which games he sits for half the season is a genius.

I've mentioned in previous posts but here it goes again. Leafs leading 4-3. Teams are playing 4 on 4. Babcock had two wingers playing. Marleau, a non centre takes the draws, loses it to Krejeci, and Kruk scores immediately.
For all the line matching the "genius" Babcock does, doesn't he know you need a centre on the ice at all times. The game was lost on that tying goal. It might have been lost anyway, but Babcock and his game management is at time just awful.

Too bad they missed out on McDonagh (too bad for the Rangers as well)

Toronto would be very wise to move one of their young forwards for an upgrade on defense. If Nylander is the piece, I think you do it. Marner seems very special so you don't move him unless you're getting an equally special defenseman back. Also, Toronto has the young forward depth to make that trade. I think Kapanen has a chance to be a very good player.

Everyone is forgetting Nylander is 21. He has a lot of time to work on his game. It's extremely rare for a player to be a full package at 21. There is no way he will be traded.

Out of curiosity, which RHD do you think could be a good match? Parayko is one name I thought of as I read that

Back on topic, another reason not to trade Gardiner is that their D isn't very good, so why trade him?

I know, I’m just saying it’d be a half-decent fit as Parayko fits what the Leafs need and Nylander fits what the Blues need

Agree with you. It might fill one hole, but just creates another. Besides the Leaf are also weak at centre with no prospects. Leafs might just need Nylander to play centre.

I mean, Bozak is a UFA i guess, that might create a hole at centre, but they still have quite a few good centres.

Parayko, Trouba, Provorov, etc. Someone of similar age that is taking top four ice time, if Nylander got moved it would likely be a 1 for 1.
