I think the Sabres are in a perfect place to reset not get older. Try to trade some of or all Okposo, Bogosian, O'Reilly, McCabe, Lehner, Pominville and Scandella for good prospects and create a new culture for the young Sabres... O'Reilly actually said he doesn't enjoy hockey anymore since going to Buffalo, they need an overall reset and culture change.
I'm very jealous of that top D pairing though can you imagine in 2-3 years how good they will be.
GMTD and Daniel1905 liked this.

I would keep McCabe and Bogosian but all of the others can go

I don't think we have to take that drastic of measures. Bogosian and Pominville won't get buyers on a trade market, and they're both gone in a year or two anyway. Scandella and O'Reilly have been very solid for us and can be part of the solution in my opinion. Okposo and McCabe had down years this season, so we'd be selling low on any deals with them. I'm not opposed to trading either of them, I just don't see us getting a good return for them.

I feel like a culture change can happen just by replacing some of our depth and filler players with hard workers that don't take anything for granted. That hard working attitude is contagious when enough people around you are doing it, and I think it would quickly spread to the rest of the guys. Maybe trade Bogo or McCabe if they're part of the problem, but I don't really see the others mentioned as possible slackers. ROR's work ethic is well documented, Scandella has had a good drive in his game this year, and Pominville is a well respected vet presence.
