Plus you think Tavares will sign for 10 million? He is getting no less then $12 million on the open mark.
Not to mention that the islanders probably wont trade him for a player that has a career high of 36 points

There is a difference between negotiating rights and sign and trade. What you have there a high price for the rights, all they get you is five days to sign him before July 1st, even then you can only sign him for 7 years, not 8. An actual sign and trade would be a lot more valuable, you would be talking Monahan, Andersson, and another piece.

Ferland is not a top line RW, unless you want someone who is streaky at best. CGY needs to pick up a top line RW especially if they sign JT

Whoops just realized my error. Title is not supposed to be sign and trade.

Yes I know totally my mistake was gonna start a sign and trade idea then got side tracked and started doing a neg rights trade lol. Either way nobody knows what the value of his neg rights are but I believe acquiring them and having that window would be crucial to convincing him to sign.

If he wants 12 mil yeah he'll get it. Maybe he also doesn't want to handcuff his team with a big cap crunch down the road. Who knows? Also the offer of Bennett and the pick is supposed to be for his neg rights not a sign and trade, my bad

I agree ferland is not a typical top line guy but i really don't know what we're gonna do at RW. I really don't like the ufas. Maybe another trade to address it but who knows who they'll target.

Yeah man, that second line tho really intrigues me. I think they could be dominate especially as a second line and Frolik and backs as a shutdown line. I really think benett can be a stud, with a new coach and playing with top 6 lineaates he could break out. I would hate to see him go

You don't need to acquire signing rights to UFA's. So that Bennett trade doesn't need to be made.
And you can only sign UFAs to max 7yrs unless they are your own.
