Red Wings At / After Draft

Created by: AU5TINx
Team: 2018-19 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 30, 2018
Published: Apr. 30, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Resigned Mantha @ 5yr/5.5m,
Resigned Larkin @ 7yr/7.5m,

Drafted Wahlstrom @ #6,
Drafted Bode Wilde @ 16 via Colorado,

This is mostly a hypothetical defensive overhaul.

A few offensive moves, and a few offseason signings

Im not confident with the Carolina trade, or the Arizona trade, if im way off dont be afraid to let me know, but i feel those deals are probably pretty fair to both teams.

I know that Kronwall is being given the opportunity to play out the remainder of his contract, but i dont think he makes it the entire season, injury is inevitable, and he'll probably be LITRetired before the season is over.

I signed JT & John Carlson because i dont think it would be terrible if wings management wants to fast track this rebuild with the other trades they made.

If Carter Hutton plays like a champ, and takes the starter spot from Howard, this team could make the playoffs, and go for what could be a deep run.

This trade was done at the 2018 Draft, Colorado sent their 1st round for DeKeyser (50% retained) + Vegas' 1st round pick. Colorado has been wanting a bigger defenseman for a while now, DeKeyser fits that mold, and getting him at 50% salary at the cost of moving down a few spots is worth it.

    1. Chychrun, Jakob
    Additional Details:

Hronek should get minutes late in the season when kronwall has his annual injury witkowski wont have to play because you forgot martin frk who will take wahlstrom's spot because he's comitted to college for next year already use 16+ to trade up to where you can get joel farabee, wahlstrom's linemate, they're great together, they can be centered by rasmussen in the future

Yeah i forgot Frk, but even though Wahlstrom is commited to Harvard, he hasnt officially joined them. Ive heard he's even considering changing the school he's commiting to. So thats anything but a sure thing. Farabee would be great to pair with Wahlstrom, but we really need to take a defenseman in this first round of this draft, whether its with our first pick, or second pick (wherever that might end up being) we've gotta get a D

Edit: i believe it was Craig Button who said he commited to Harvard a while ago, and is exploring other schools.
