Defense still needs a ton of work but hopefully Smith can bounce back and remember how to play hockey. I hate to shackle Bouchard to Staal but I like the rookie - vet combo and if you minimize their min to like 14-16 a night, it would work out with minimal damage.

The offense is there though. Yes, Lucic on the fourth line is expensive but honestly it's where he fits and we'd have a damn good fourth line. Hard working, big hitting, and potentially scoring fourth line if Lucic finds the back of the net. Also allows us to roll four lines and keep offense fresh.

I may be overvaluing Namestikov so if you agree, I would add our 2018 Second Round pick to the deal or add another FWD prospect like Ronning or Fontaine.

I think EDM takes their deal. Gives them what they want without retaining any of Lucic's contract.
