Winnipeg is going to be good for a long time. Nice job moving out salary in order to pay Morrisey and Trouba properly. I think Stasny will be looking for one last pay day with term, but I completely agree with your thoughts and not give out longer then one year. With Mason, Stasny and Myers coming off the books the following year that will give them 16.1 million to lock up Liane, Connor and give wheeler a couple million for a raise. Chevy has done an amazing job putting this team together

I am just hoping stastny stays for a year to cash in big the year after or stay with the jets for a pay cut (A little more than perreault x 2 or 3 years)
I really don't think anyone will pay stastny 7 mil again or maybe not even 6.5 so he is getting possibly more than market value or at least market value
He also gets to play with Laine and Ehlers so there is another perk
Lastly, Stastny likes not being the center of attention of Winnipeg is perfect - If he were to go to another team in free agency (like MTL), he would have more expectations than he can fulfill
In general I think Stastny loves it in Winnipeg and will stay at least for another year

Thanks for the nice words than no one gives on this site, but what do you think of the trades?

I like thee moves and think they would put us in contention for back to nack cups. My worry is that you are committing too much salary for 2019 making it impossible to sign laine and connor to extensions

I think based on age and goal totals the market value for laine will be 10 mill and connor will be 5. Not sure we would be able to sign both to that. However i could be wrong and i do like your trades.

In 2019 when the young guys need extensions wheeler will need to get a raise as well. Also myers and the backup need to be replaced or resigned (assuming they will be replaced). In my mind, this will be difficult to do with the cap space available. You combining what im swathing?

Myers will be replaced with poolman
Mason will be replaced by comrie
and depth players can be moved for picks and replaced by younger players on ELC's

This might be Statsny's last shot at another big contract, it will be tough to sell him on a one year extension. He could get hurt next year or have a down year and get way less because of a bad situation. Guys need some job security.

Nicely done. The Jets would be in a great position to challenge again for a cup with this roster. One problem may be the bonuses that Laine, Connor and Niku would inevitably earn. Moving Mason and putting Hutch/Comrie in as the backup would free up $3M.

      I forgot about the bonuses
Then mason goes and we sign hutch for a year at 1.75 mil (is that enough?)

Im not sure Habs would take on Kulikov in this deal. They have a plethora of LHD as is. They need to get rid of some.

The jets could not enter the offensive zone
They didn't have their normal speed but good d by Nashville
Buff needs to play like before - Defense first
