why would you trade a top 6 forward and a good defence for an aging veteran and a injury prone player

What Pens fans think that Hagelin would get solid return? The deals on here are very "salary dump" ish.

Big sign that the Blues fans are coming in here and salivating at the mouth. Not even remotely close to a good enough trade for Hoffman and Ceci. That's a top 6 and a fringe top 4 D. Expect Kyrou or Thomas being a part of the package.

Yeah this is bad, drop Ceci and its fair value but doubt Ottawa wants Jbouw.

highly doubtful either of those two would be included honestly. you're going to have to drop to a lower tier of prospects and not Thomas/Kyrou. Think Blias, Kaspick, Wahlman, Noel, or Sanford. No team is trading their top two prospects. Unless it's MTL haha.

Then that team is absolutely dreaming if they think they're going to get a player like Hoffman, let alone adding Ceci on too. Hoffman is one of the better left wings in the game on a pretty fair contract. He's what you DREAM Thomas or Kyrou even become close to. People gotta stop prospect hugging. They're great and they'll probably end up as decent NHL players but wanna know who's already a decent NHL player (in fact he's a really freaking good NHL player)? Mike Hoffman.

Im not prospect hugging. I'm being honest and realistic. Teams don't trade their top prospects. The value they provide on an ELC is crucial to teams in the salary cap era. Go through trades over the last 4 years or so and count how many #1 and #2 prospects in a system have been dealt. It's next to none. If it was up to me I wouldn't mind trading my teams top prospect for a real NHL player that provides the value now but GMs (that keep their jobs) just don't do it. That's why prospects fail before they are ever let go i.e. Morin, Bennett (possibly), etc.
