Thoughts:

I'm not a huge fan of the construction of the top line, but the 2nd and 3rd lines look so good that I can live with it. Marleau/Kadri/Marner found some great chemistry second half, so you let them continue it. Kapanen/Nylander played together in the AHL, and I could see solid chemistry developing there. You use that third line in a more sheltered offensive zone start role like the Bozak line last year while Nylander develops his game at center. Riley Nash would be an excellent add for the 4th line if he is willing to play here in more limited minutes. Could move up in the lineup whenever needed. It may be unlikely he does that though. So add generic 4th line center here if you want.. Lol.

The Myers trade I believe works for both teams. This is under the assumption Trouba does sign long term with them, making Myers expendable. I think he would be a good fit with Rielly and he knocks Hainsey/Zaitsev to their rightful places. Everything seems to fall in place now.

Overall I think this team is better than last year without spending a lot of money. Still lots of room to account for bonuses and for the Matthews/Marner deals next year. Tell me what you think below :)

The Nylander deal. Either bridge short term, like 2 years or sign him well past his UFA eligibility but not 4 years which takes him into his UFA year.
I guess the the debate is whether one year of Myers is worth a first rounder.
Grundstrom, well he's a LWer and shouldn't be buried on the fourth line. He's kinda the grinder type with good hands. How's this
Grundstrom/Matthew/Marner. Johnson/Nylander/Hyman. Marleau/Kadri/Kapanen. Leivo/Aaltonen/Brown. Could be another centre and you suggested Riley.

All fair points. We'll have to get a better look at Grundstrom before throwing him to the top line. Don't know how confident I am in that. I personally just really like the idea of Nylander/Kapanen. I believe they'd work well together and they've done it in the past.

The reason I put Grundtrom on the top. He is a pro of the SHL and AHL. Maybe he can do the Hyman job on that line. And he is playing with two veterans....Matthews and Marner. Hyman become the digger with speedster Nylander and Johnson. That was my thought. But when the players are playing well they are kinda interchangeable.
