What do you think people of CapFriendly

Created by: jmac490
Team: 2018-19 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: May 5, 2018
Published: May 5, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
4th overall pick is Tkachuk in 2018
8th overall pick is Hughes in 2018

This deal is completely in left field I know, but Saad is a lesser Stone imo. Two Way guy, little less offensive prowess and a little slower, but still capable of 50 points, while also helping get out from under Ryan's contract, while also adding a threat to the Top 6

Interesting trade idea but the hawks aren't going to take on a bigger contract then Saad for an over the hill player on the decline...sorry but the 4th overall pick doesn't even merit that. That said, even if they did, the Hawks aren't drafting 2 forwards as they need Defense players to replace Keith and Seabs in the next few years and Tkachuk is not ready for 1st line minutes out of the gate. Additionally, where is Jokiharju? Where are all the signings of RFA's (Hino, Duclair, Hayden, Jurco)?

Why would Chicago ever want to make that deal.... that Bobby Ryan contract is one of the worst contracts in the NHL..... $30,000,000 & Saad for the 4th pick in the draft.... Run Forrest Run!!!!

Didn't sign them. Didn't want to make the effort. Hughes is the defenceman they would draft 8th overall. So he will help fill the void of Keith and Seabrook.

I feel like this is one of those rare trades where both teams lose

My point was Chicago gives up Saad and has to pay $30,000,000 in salary to Ryan for the 4th pick in 2018...... giving up Saas & $30,000,000 is a steep price to pay for the 4th pick

If Chicago decides to rebuild it wouldn't be terrible. Lots of talent in the top 5

How can you expect to rebuild when you devote close to 10% of your cap space to one player who is not worth the league minimum for 5 seasons..... Chicago is already in Cap Hell for 18/19. If you pick up Ryan's contract how many players will you have to unload to release yourself from Cap Jail..... who does Chicago trade away in order to allow them cap space?

Not that it is Ryan's fault, but having a overpaid, non productive player is a real cancer to a teams . Other players get squeezed contract wise (RFAs) , then there isn't room to make additions at TDL or even at the beginning of the season because of the "cancer "

Ryan played on a third line with Pageau? Got 33 pts?https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/r/ryanbo01.html. 6M cap hit.

Saad played on a 1st line with Jonathan Toews. Got 35pts. https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/s/saadbr01.html

7.5M cap hit.

But I don't think Ottawa consider that move. They can just move Ryan up to their top line for ten games to get the two extra points, pay the extra 1.5M, and keep their pick.

Saad scored 30 goals one time and is young with 3years left under control. Ryan scored 30 goals 4 times, is 31, has 4 yrs left at a slightly higher cap hit.

I think Ottawa's 2nd and a goalie get it done.

Hawks fans' frustration with Saad was enough to get his salary dumped a few years ago. Then they traded Breadman for him. Dude is gone for anything. Raising his cap hit by 1.5M and adding three past seasons of 30 goals? I don't think this trade involves any first round picks. Every team tries to win, but they try just as hard to sell tickets to a place of happiness, and get fans to pay for cable packages that make us feel happy.

Hawks fans see Bread Man in the playoffs, and how do they feel?

Saad.

Last time Ryan scored 30 goals was when he was 23. Nearly 8 years ago. So your argument is a little irrelevant

Last time Saad scored thirty goals he played for a team of people with something left to prove, not just a bunch of old millionaires collecting the biggest paychecks in the league. Chicago thought Saad might be one of those young, hungry guys. They were wrong. I guess we were both wrong about how strongly the Hawks' fans would speak out on this issue, though. They're watching baseball. And that, right there, is why the Hawks' time to rebuild started a year ago, whether they know it or not.
