Right! Veleno or Hayton... But we'd still need to replace Juulsen departure. (Josh Brook hopefully)
And so much nice things are said about Kotkaniemi after last tournament.

your asking the Stars to move down from 13 to 55 for a backup goalie and #6 d? Jim Nill knows better i guarantee you.

I'd still say we are not giving enough to the oilers but giving them Juulsen does makes sens given their needs on the right side. Maybe more like our pick #34, Pacc and Juulsen for Nurse and #10.

I am not sure the Stars trade their 2018 1st, since the draft is in Dallas for players like Benn!
I would see them do it for Pacioretty though.

I would take a chance on the Edmonton trade. Next up!
Price and Weber.

A relatively late 2nd round pick, an average middle pairing defenseman and a 24-year-old goalie who had a few good games in the NHL but supported a .886 save percentage in the AHL for a pick that could possibly get you a high offensive defenseman prospect with tons of upside? It's a start but how does this benefit Dallas? Benn isn't really needed, while he would upgrade the Top 4, a guy like Honka needs that position more than any for developing. Bishop is no doubt that #1 goalie for Dallas and Lehtonen was a solid backup this year, this is without mentioning about Colton Point who is Dallas's future goaltender. The second would be welcomed with open arms to Dallas but not after giving up their valuable 1st.

Yes, you're right. Any players picked with Stars 1st won,t be playing in the NHL next year, not even the one after. If DAL wants to go back in the playoff, I would maybe give Byron instead of Lindgren and Benn.

Edmonton does not take that deal. Nurse and Dobson is way more of a need than Pac and Juulson. Edmonton's D would be moving backwards. Our goal is to get a little faster and better on D. And if Pac didn't resign...Edmonton would be mocked for years. Nurse and Dobson and a 4th rounder for Juulson and a year of Pac. I know Chia is bad... but come on...that's terrible.

I understand. What if MTL swaps the 4th for a second and gives a 1st if Pacioretty doesn't extend with EDM? Or maybe Byron instead of the 2nd.

That makes it way better, but it still doesn't deal with the fact the Oilers D is worse. I just can't see Edmonton weakening there back end for better forwards and I'm pretty sure you'd be running into cap trouble if they add Byron. They don't need the pick...they need players that are ready now.
