Considering he is one of the best shot suppressing defenders in the league I think he is worth that

      No, Vancouver retains $10.5M.

      Vancouver receives:
      2018 1st round pick (CGY)

      New York receives:
Tavares and Eberle at 50% off
      Granlund and Baertschi
      2018 2nd round pick (SJS)

Ummmmm, I’m pretty sure trades don’t work like that, and Vancouver is getting the 11th pick to give you Grandlund, Baertschi, a 2nd and take on 10.5 million in dead cap space. Think about that.

Oh, Eriksson doesn’t get you a 4th let alone a 2nd and Perry, regardless of how much he’s declined.

Buffalo doesn’t need Gagner. But I won criticize that one I guess.

      NYI:
The NYI trades are two separate trades that are linked. 1st trade: Vancouver acquires a conditional 1st rounder, Tavares and Eberle for Granlund, Baertschi and a 2nd. The condition is Vancouver will trade Tavares and Eberle back with 50% retained salary to receive the 1st rounder or else Vancouver must give NYI 4 1st rounders. 2nd trade: Vancouver re-signs Tavares to a one-year $15M deal and sends both him and Eberle back to NYI with 50% retained.

      ANA:
Eriksson will gain value on July 2nd (the day after he is paid his big signing bonus). He will only be making 14 million during his time in Anaheim and he will be eligible to be exposed during the Seattle Expansion Draft which may handcuff Anaheim if they keep Perry.

      BUF:
Buffalo saves cap space by acquiring Gagner and shipping out Bogosian.

Wow. That Isles trade is aggressively harmful to the Isles. We lose our franchise center, an under contract 60 point winger and a 1st rounder to get the RFA Rights to two players worse than the ones we’re giving away and all we get back is a 2nd rounder. And you want the Isles to pay half of Tavares’ and Eberle’s salaries? Why? Why would anyone do that? It makes no sense from a business angle, a salary cap angle, a value angle, it just makes zero sense.

LMAO. Liljegren alone is worth Tanev+., And yet you add to liljegren? Tanev has played max 70 games in a season and is always hurt. No way he is moved for liljegren.

You've got it all wrong bud. Vancouver is going to get the 2018 1st round pick (CGY) and New York is going to get Tavares and Eberle at 50% off, Baertschi, Granlund and a 2nd rounder once everything is all said and done.

Tanev has only played max 70 games because of the style he plays. Considering how Boston exposed Toronto's defense and the fact that Toronto is going to hire a new GM this deal has a chance to go through.

Unless the new GM is Bergevin, the Leafs wont trade Liljegren.

Huh. That seems like a bad deal for you guys. Why would you give away all of that young talent and cap space just to move up one round?

I'm still stuck on the notion of Washington paying you with a pick to take on Dorsett's contract.

They already have enough cap problems. No need to give away picks in order to make it worse.

It actually makes their cap issues better. Dorsett is retired and can be placed on LTIR to give Washington some cap relief (help re-sign Carlson).

What? It does nothing but hurt them.

You get cap relief yes, but not for more then the contract's cap hit. And you only get it for as much as the replacement call up pushes you above the cap, which would mean they would sit at 0 accrued cap space and be un-able to make any deadline deals that would put you above the cap.

Furthermore, you need to be under the cap at the start of the year (when you can first put someone on LTIR). Which, for a small contract like Dorsett's, you can probably finagle around by papering waiver-exempt players into the AHL and then calling them up day 1 (and getting the appropriate cap relief), but there is no reason for them to introduce those problems without benefit.

Exactly, Vancouver gives up 2 quality roster players and minimum 10 million in cap to get one mid round 1st. I don't see the fair value here.
