GMBots puts up a few billboards around Buffalo welcoming Artemi Panarin & Alexander Wennberg.

Boys order your wings hot and wet with extra blue cheese. No ranch as that is just for lettuce.

If you replaced OReilly with Rinehart and McCabe and Nylander with Ristolinen then sure other then that no way is Panarin and Wennberg being traded to buffalo. Sorry.

Getting stronger (down the middle) is good, but not at the expense of losing Panarin. He is a game breaker. Pure and simple.
And, you are not really stronger up the middle above, you are actually weaker without Wennberg.
Jenner is not a natural C (nor Foligno). Jenner prefers LW and is better there.
Dubi is past his prime, and would be overpaid for 4C duty.

Have fun losing panarin in free agency. There's zero way we'd trade you risto AND Reinhart for a ufa and someone who has had one above average season. Get real

There is no way the Jackets even think about making the trade above, as addition by subtraction is not the answer at this time.

Panarin is not just "some UFA", and you probably should research Wennberg's team possession numbers a little closer.
Panarin won't be going anywhere...resigning him will be highest priority.
They will clear enough space to ensure re-signing all 3 (Panarin, Werenski & Bob).

Jones, Wennberg & Atkinson have already signed team-friendly contracts.

They are loaded at Defence.
They really want to re-sign Cole (and Murray), if the numbers work, to replace the experience of losing Johnson this summer.

They also have a strong D corp. coming up quickly and fighting for playing time (Nutivaara, Kukan, Harrington, Carlsson), as well as Vainio & Gavrikov coming to US next year).
Savard would then be expendable and Dubi would be traded or bought out for cap relief.

I really liked this trade as much as WagsNag. When something is too good to be true it is. Some Buffalo CF GM grossly over value O'Reilly. Thank you for explaining why this trade makes no sense to Columbus.

Reinhart and Ristolainen for Panarin and Wennberg. I think you are correct that is closer to fair. I know other CF Buffalo GM will think I am speaking blasphemy but IMO Ristolainen < Panarin and Reinhart = > Wennberg so Buffalo still wins the trade.

Panarin is about as expendable to CBJ as Hall is to NJ or MacKinnon to COL. The only trades I’ll even think about are ones that send him back to Chicago (and not because they’re exactly realistic, but because I loved the Panarin-Anisimov-Kane line).

if Buffalo is taking on a pending UFA in this deal they won't do it without a contract extension in place already

Hey, guys? We get that y'all don't expect UFAs to stick around in general because, y'know, your team, but some teams are able to keep their players.
