@DirtyDangles If I could interject with this whole Hart vs McNiven nonsense, and value between Price and Hart.

First of all Hart has more value than McNiven. Where I think @Hockey1033 is getting at though is in McNiven's final year of Junior (2016-17) he won CHL Goaltender of the year (Hart was nominated), even if Hart had better individual statistics (1.99 - 927%) while McNiven (2.30 - 915%). Extrapolate what you want from this, but I think that's what he's getting at. The reason Hart is more valuable (by a lot) is that he's been slated as a top goalie prospect for a long time and from a young age due representing Canada at World juniors and actually being drafted (McNiven was not). and Hart hasn't shown any signs of regression. Also, as of right now MTL has two goalie prospects above McNiven right now anyways in Primeau and Lindgren.

The Hart is equal to Price however is ridiculous. not saying Flyers should be interested in him (he's not for sale anyways), but Hart has a total of zero professional games played. CHL stats mean absolutely nothing in this comparison. once Hart gets to the pros, and can carry a crappy AHL to a championship (which is what Price did with the Hamilton Bulldogs) then immediately take the starter position in the NHL when the team already had an established #1 and backup in place (Huet and Halak), and have an impact. If Hart can at least accomplish similar things to that. then sure.

But I'll agree that PHI shouldn't target Price. Not because of the money, but the term of his deal. At some point you have to think they will want to give Hart a chance. Price would prevent this. PHI need a guy signed tops to a 3year deal. If I were PHI I'd try and target Allen from STL.

I was saying that in the eyes of the Flyers, Hart is worth more than Price. Price is on the back 9 of his career and carries an insane cap hit for a goalie. Obviously Price is currently the better goalie but he doesn't fit what the Flyers want to do. Hart will be the starter or at least 50/50 split in 19/20.

You had nobody get more than 55 points and this was a high scoring year. Where is the offense going to come from?

Gallagher and.... huh that's it.

Also, Tampa doesn't want, or have anything to do with Jeff Perry. You can keep your trash, and we will keep our almost 50 point winger and top scoring rookie forward in Syracuse.

There's a thing called not being able to attract top free agents because Montreal is **** (you really think you're getting Tavares??? LMFAO!) and having Marc Bergevin in charge.

yea, someone like Carlson, Tavares, Kane, or Statsny is going to waste away in Montreal rather than joining a contender... talk about delusion

If I were you, I would prepare for years of mediocrity and being buried in the basement.

I like how u say that but in the season series Tampa barely beat Montreal Tampa won one game in regulation 3-1 and won two others in overtime and shootout and the 4th Montreal beat them so it would be close to be honest

Re: The Flyers Trade

Philadelphia has limited incentives to trade prospects, especially ones like Carter Hart, for a goaltender that has a very weak market value. Carey Price may in fact be the best goaltender in the world - that doesn't mean he has the most market value out of goaltender. Team's that allocate 12-14% of their salary cap to a goaltender will inherently mean that that goaltender will have a weaker market value relative to the likes of Andersen, Gibson, Murray, etc. That being said, in a vacuum, Carter Hart doesn't equal Carey Price. But based on the models that Ron Hetxall has proposed, the Flyers are better off either a.) waiting for Hart/Sandstrom to develop or b.) just finding a goaltender that is better than average, not a superstar caliber one.

Re: McDavid's Trade Value
He does not have the most market value at this time. Nathan MacKinnon or Nikita Kucherov can get a better return than Connor McDavid. Market value is different than Playing value.

Re: Free Agency
Name a team that has won a cup in the cap era after signing a player to a deal that carries a cap hit over 6M.

You don't want a guy who just had 102 points? I guess you like losing.
